Hormonal and Genetic Influences in Psychopharmacology

This course examines how hormonal and genetic factors influence psychotropic medication responses in psychiatric treatment. Students will explore the role of hormones in psychopharmacology and learn to apply pharmacogenetic testing, including interpretation of genotypes and phenotypes, understanding gene-drug interactions, and applying clinical recommendations from pharmacogenetic reports. Students will develop competency in individualized medication management strategies that integrate both hormonal and genetic considerations essential for clinical practice as FNPs and PsychNPs.
