Very basic. I thought he was talking about the introduction when he said about the history of anaesthesia. I don't recommend this. But he was a good speaker and very interesting to listen to, and polite. It may be because I have just watched the introduction, but unless you are really nervous and having surgery I suggest not to watch this. I am usually not a big fan of reviews but you should take this advice.

The lectures are not bad, they have the material, tbey are very well spoken and easy to undersgand. I find some quizz questions to not be relevant, i believe i won't be aske dthese questions on exam. And sometime the material itself feels dry. I am more of a doers, so by solving more complicated questions with the help of a professor would my learning experience much better. But over all not a bad course.

I also think he puts more emphasis on the structures that are clinically relevant. Coming from someone that has never taken microbiology before, I feel as if it's explained simply without All the fluff, especially for a “Ph.D.,” which, from my experience, makes things more complicated than they need to be when giving lectures and quizzes. Ex. When I take the quiz at the end of each lecture I understand what the question is asking, and I'm able to respond Accordingly. This is what's missing in the science classes that I taken at the Schools I've attended.

This course is an excellent presentation of biochemistry. Professor Ahern presents the material in a clear, concise, easy to understand format that is easy to follow. I really like that I can pick and choose the lectures I need to watch, particularly those that I need to prepare for my upcoming exam. I find the review questions very helpful. I have just begun the Respiratory Physiology video lectures and the following is the evidence. These video's are right up there with the famous John B. West video's on Respiratory Physiology. John B. can't come close to these Lecturio lectures that honestly satisfy the student. Dr. Wilson, to some, literally takes their breath away with these video lectures on respiratory physiology.

As mentioned previously, more emphasis on the importance of surfactant would be useful and on how it is essential to keep the airways functional. The section on hypobaric and hyperbaric pressure effects such as during mountaineering and diving is informative and should be of interest to anyone.

Kevin Ahern is a really good teacher, I really enjoy his lectures, but sometimes it's hard to follow the lecture due to the presentation picturing one thing and him talking about something else. And also when he's talking about about the presentation I wished he had some sort of pointer so I would be easier to know what structure he's talking about????????

Clear presentation AND good selection of figures to show both a. and v. circulation. It is an added plus that all figures have the names in latin and not English. In other of the anatomy videos (i.e. upper limb, brain) the names in English, whereas keeping it in latin is more international than English and makes us all think that we are treating a scientific topic with a long history. Keeping it in latin makes i more clear and less ambiguous than English. Keep names of anatomical structures in latin in you Lecturio lectures.

I'm impressed with how high yield the information is. The professor touches very important aspects in just the shortest time that one video has, and that is really impressive. In general, I find the lectures provided in Lecture to be of exceptional quality. This one is not only below that standard, but, for me, it fails entirely as an instructive tool especially in regard to the discussion around the first figure. Basic principles to convey information are missing, and when combined together make for a frustrating experience where little to no information is really conveyed. 1. The labels are indicated only as the lecturer speaks. The slide never shows the labels at one time only. (I understand the lecturer wishes to flag the information he is talking about. This could just as easily been done with a figure that shows all of the labels but uses color or boldness to draw our attention to the item under discussion. Better yet, in lieu of highlighting the label, highlighting the actual anatomical item is even more effective). 2. The labels are not adjacent to each other so that the reader looses a visual relation. This is a circular structure with consistent layering, yet the labels jump from side to side for no reason. This is not only distracting but prevents us viewers from easily following the structure along with the discussion. 3. There is no rhyme or reason to the coloring. Connective tissue and muscle are both pink and yellow. This makes it impossible for the viewer to quickly appreciate the structures. Frankly, from this lecture, I have no clue what is where in terms of the layer of the esophagus and the location of each plexus. I ask each of you at Lecturio who are reading this review to see if you are able to grasp this information after reviewing this lecture. In addition to fixing this lecture, it is my hope to hear from Lecturio as to whether the company has in place an editorial team to ensure that basic principals to successfully convey information, as has been done in this lecture, are never missed. After all, we students are paying for a professional service to help educate us, not waste our time. Thank you for your consideration.

I did like this course but in some cases, I wish the images were larger as I had to keep referring back to my netter because the ones shown were not clear enough. I also wish that the professor show the movements when talking about what action each muscle does, whether through a picture or just simply showing them himself.

I didnt understand it the first time I watched it, but after studying the textbook and watching it again, everything made so much sense. Having a better understanding in physics and ?pressure in the respiratory system also helps. That was truly a high yield lecture, but it's best if you watch it after doing some reading in your textbooks.

I like the short videos. They described what’s important and later you get questions about the video.

Content is good and is taught well. However, i'd love it if the professor had put more efforts in explaining certain topics.

The lecturer speaks clearly and is engaging. The material is presented quite well - in a logical manner. I feel the material could go in a bit more depth (but perhaps later lectures will). I would probably give this series 5 stars, however, I'm currently studying for the USMLE, and I feel half or more of the review questions are extremely low-yield. For example, there are questions about which section of a plant does a specific fungus infect. That's okay to test understanding of the lecture material presented, but I don't want to have that type of question included in my "Spaced Repetition" for memorization. It's a real waste of my limited time and brain space. Please ither remove the low-yield questions, or perhaps a better (and faster) option would be to add an option to turn off the "dumb" questions.

Easy to follow lectures and also comprehesive lecture required for step 1 USMLE .

Each section was very concise and reminded me of details that I had forgotten. It also taught me the clinical application for each injury/condition. I use these as a supplement to my medical school lectures which I don't have time to rewatch 2 hours of lecture for 3 classes/day. It's also very helpful that each quiz is linked to the relevant material that I need to know.

I've taken classes from Dr. Racaniello previously on the coursera.org platform. He is a very engaging instructor and he is no different in this Lecturi series, at least for the free part. As a citizen scientist, the full cost is too much so for this series I can only comment on the bacteria sections that are free. The quiz questions are very relevant to the material presented and the reference material is equally good.

I work in a large public hospital biochemistry routine department, when I studied this subject there where no computers, only text books. So this is a refresher and update of the subject. I am enjoying this 'new' way of learning and it enhances my work knowledge as understanding theory is important for performing work well.

I found these lectures to be delivered in a less didactic manner than others and thereby more difficult to cease and remember the specific details needed. Fewer words, slower delivery focussing on diagrams needed.

I like it because I feel like now I am able to study difficult concepts in a relatively short space of time. I'd recommend it to all MBBS students finding it difficult to understand respiratory physiology by reading from a text book.

Well-designed and informative I would recommend that the quiz questions can be more effective. For example, some answers are just memorizing names or some details that are only noted orally for few seconds.

The reason I chose a 4 star rating was because the lectures were amazing and wonderful but I do feel there is room for improvement. I feel in this section, the slides could have contained more information when possible to download and I personally feel that slides was the downfall in this section from preventing the full 5 star rating. I feel the slides could use an improvement and expand on more details. I also believe that the lecturer could have expanded on some concepts a bit more to provide more understanding by providing more examples and various other techniques. The length of the videos were amazing, the way in which the lecturer spoke was captivating and caught my attention and I most certainly enjoyed the lectures and I did learn alot that I never caught in class before. I do urge that the slides do get an improvement by adding certain figures and more concepts especially for us to download. I think it would help alot.

The vedios don't cover many important aspects such as cultures , serology etc. Every topic is over summarised and isn't very good for concept building

There are not too long and they are well explained.

He wasn't clear enough, is the first lecture that I have to google in order to have a better understanding.

I especially liked the MRI of the heart and seeing the actual orientation of the heart with the RV in front of the LV in the frontal plane....not what I thought was the case.

It’s not a bad lecture but it’s bulky stuff that isn’t simplified to hold ones attention, don’t get me wrong, it has its highlights but it could be more interesting.

All the explanation are precise to the point...and covers all the important concepts

The professor is excellent. I like how he explains things. Some of the professors move their arms around a lot which can be distracting or spend the whole time looking down at the computer. With others it feels like all the do is read from the slides. However the biochem lectures are very well done and by far my favourites so far.

Not very good. He's just spouting out facts, sounds like he's probably reading from a teleprompter.

I consider it a ery shallow lecture, with very little info about costal attachemnts of the intercostal muscles, they don even show a sagital cut of the ribs to understand better the intercostal muscle attachemnts and origin.

Anatomy is explained best with annotated images and pointers on the various parts as the lecturer speaks. Not through tabulation of facts.

I started taking these classes beforehand since our course is only gonna start at Sept ao thought of studying something beforehand so I don't sit clueless once the classes begin. it's highly helpful and very well organized to follow even though you don't know anything about the topics .it everything from the basics in great detail and that's why I followed the lectures using the free trial.i do wish to access the rest of the lectures but since it requires payment I pulled back since I'm not currently that financially sound to make the payment since the college fee requires a lot of money.i wish I had free access to all the lectures .I've searched for good lectures online and I find lecturio the most promising online lecture class with precisely organized manner of classes and slides and even the diagram s and 3d models.hoping for more from you .at least make some more videos open to free access.a request from a beginner student.with lots of gratitude Been

I have really enjoyed the course because Prof. Thad Wilson explained all the concepts in easy and understanding way. So I can integrate all these concepts and apply while I converge that knowledge with other concepts that I have to apply while I'm trying to understand and see how other body systems actually work. This man is obviously very smart but it is seriously painful to listen to ANY of his lectures. His stuttering is way to distracting.

I choose this rating because I feel the course is not well organized, and I think it lacks of contents in many important topics of chemistry, such as molecular geometry, thermochemistry, periodic properties of elements and nomenclature (both organic and inorganic).

Competent expert relating basic physiology principles well. Emphasis on aspects of physiology that relate to most common respiratory pathology. Good introduction and aid for the novice. Quiz questions after each lecture help reinforce key messages. Over time, Lecturio might be able to invest in more sophisticated graphics such as animations, to support the lecture's teaching objective and aid learning. The lecturer with powerpoint presentation can be a fairly benign and sometimes, unengaging method of teaching.

Dr. Pickering's lectures are great. He focuses on what's important and everything is exceptionally well organized. The only thing I would add to the lectures is various mnemonics available for the upper limb.

Dr. Canby explains the thoracic viscera very clearly. His pacing is good, and he makes sure to organize knowledge in a sensible way that is easy to learn.

The information was clear, short and exact which gave me an opportunity to fully understand and absorb the content being discussed. Good brief overview of the knee joint but I wish the lecturer would have gone more in-depth about the menisci, and the rotational and translational movements of the knee.

similar to Upper Limb; layout & structure of course is quite good. concise & detailed. but the images & diagrams used truly do have very small labels, often making them useful. The lecturer uses the cursor here and then but thats not conducive to great learning either. you really need to be visualising these structures in a large & clear format. Another point would be to include some mnemonics! it is no secret that these are one of the most useful tools for anatomy students in remembering complex structures, so why omit them? a final criticism is that it just lacks some more clinical relevance.

This lecture offers only the very basic principles for understanding the concept of hybridisation with very little examples. The lecturer himself seems as if he reads notes off a text book out loud without providing appropriate explanation on the idea behind the way that hybridisation works in interacting atoms. Also, providing problem-solving exercises (like at the end of lecture 12. Covalent Bonds - Quantum Numbers), as well as, the answers to those questions - so that someone can mark their own responses - is an essential part of teaching and learning I hope we can agree.

I chose this rating because Dr. Joseph Alpert MD. takes his time in his lecture and emphasizes information about the layers of the blood vessels and their similarities and differences particularly the thickness of the tunica media in the arteries he drives home the point very well.

I found this lecture to be clear, concise and suitable as a complement to lectures, textbook and cadaver work. Could you make the diagrams and their labels a bit larger, as they are difficult to see on smartphone, and there is no zoom facility.

I chose this rating because the structures the Lecturer is describing are unclear and difficult to follow. If the instructure had better visualization--such as highlighting the veins as he spoke--that would help immensley. An additional thing that would have helped is to have a visual summary of which veins feed into which at the end of the segment so the students could organize the vein tributaries better in their minds. I like the over all information, it just needs to be presented better.

Definitely benefitted from the lectures. Just a small note, even when putting the video on HD and full screen, the writing is too small and blurry to see the labelled parts of various anatomical structures. Hope the resolution can be increased or labels increased in size.

James used very small images that were of limited value and simply read what was on his slides which had very scant detail. No further elaboration or clinical relevance accompanied his explanations. I have gone to another resource for anatomy as I found my understanding was not stronger after having listened to his lectures.

I love professor Wilsons lectures. He is so relaxed and is talking at the perfect speed and makes it easy to understand. The information given in these lectures is really good.

Explanation was simplified which then made understanding of the topic at hand simplistic. However, an opinion of mine would be that human specimen images should be shown before the explanation rather than later on in the lecture .

I fund the course giving me a proper intro and review of every topic. Not necessarily the best class replacement, but certainly covers each and every topic to at least a basic extent.

How I wish I had this when I first started medical school. The explanations were clear and concise. The use of simple words enable me to understand it well as well as the option to pause at anytime allows further internalization of the facts.

It seems superficial. Why do I care about flow rates? How do the hormones interact? This whole course was just segmented and surface level. Lecturio has the potential to replace a lot of medical schools if they start to connect information rather than segmenting it.

It's too boring.. I found it less interactive, less interesting. Better to read my Gray's Anatomy book.

The course is good but some questions in the quizzes have the wrong correction. Some information in the physiology course is incompatible with the quizzes in pathology. As an example, the information given about the central receptores being sensible to H+ ion and not to CO2 itself (in physiology) is correct but in the pathology course it is considered incorrect in one of the quizzes where we are given the option between CO2, H+ and other ions and the “right” answer is CO2 which is wrong. I would recommended but the quizzes must be checked for erros.

I was going to give it a five stars but in the lecture you said during respiration the heart moves down and up but in the quiz the right answer was up and down..

I found the lectures to be very informative and composed of high-yield information for a relatively quick review of the subject. The only reason I give 4* is because of the few technical problems with the course; but, in regard to the course material, Lecturio provides a wonderful review of Biochemistry with Dr. Ahern.

I certainly liked the video format, where we can adjust the focus from the speaker to the slide, and use the cursor to aid in pinpointing the relevant aspects of the scapula. The only thing I found was missing was a little aside about the suprascapular notch, which was shown in the slide, but not alluded to in the actual video lecture!

The diagrams used had labels that were not in English. So that was really disappointing since it was difficult to go through the PDF files without the lecture. Also.. it would be really helpful if the lecturers used larger and more clear diagrams. And use pens or highlighters when referring to the diagram. Other than that, the course so far is good.

Well Dr Pickering has presented the subject in such a lucid and organised manner that it becomes impossible not to fall in love with it and become dexterous in it at the same time. It was a wonderful experience with the upper limb. Hope I have the same fun with the lower limb!

good lecture- lost a star because illustrations are in latin. I do appreciate latin is completely acceptable to use in the context of anatomy, but in practice nobody uses latin terms and it feels outdated and counter-productive to learn the latin nomenclature. It would be much easier to follow if everything was in english ; a small point but it did slow me down when following this lecture.

Though I wouldn't want to hurt the instructors feelings, I think the concepts are all included, but his ability to convey the information in a coherent, and appealing matter are lacking. Anyone can just read you the concept and put slide after slide, but there is a finesse to the presentation of material. If every lecturer could have that finesse, this would be the most incredible resource for medical students around the world.

Lectures on Anatomy of the Heart was more concise, very comphrensible and corresponded with Last Anatomy textbook. Upper Limb Lectures wasn't as concise as Lectures on The Thorax( Heart). But I am very grateful to Lecturio for making my learning more simplified....

The lecture was filled with a lot of the important basic information for the Cardiac System. The lecturer was also speaking with a clear voice and the quiz questions were evenly spaced out throughout the lesson.

Everything is covered very well and in a comprehensive manner, but coverage of thoracic osteology is missing. There is also no lecture about the muscles surrounding the thoracic area.

Professor Racaniello is engaging. He really has made the study of microbiology enjoyable. This is the best Lecturio course I've taken to date. He has captured my interest. I'm looking forward to the more advanced microbiology course that I'll be taking in a couple of weeks. I would also love to see a Lecturio course on the microbiome, which I feel deserves a program of its own. This alone could be a 12 hour course.

With this introductory course, you will be exposed to the basic aspects of Biochemistry. Professor Ahern emphasizes that an in-depth knowledge of basic biochemistry will aid you tremendously in understanding life processes on a macroscopic level. This one course alone was well worth the one month payment of 24$. Every other course on top of that was an attractive but inessential addition..."icing on the cake"!

I think the content is not that relevant for a medical student. Also de Professor is constantly looking down at the slides which is really annoying.

Professor Ahern is truly excellent! Amazing choice. He clearly explains concepts and shows sincere enthusiasm for the topics. You need to bring him back for lectures on amino acids and the urea cycle as well as the electron transport chain.

The content was well presented, but I wanted more depth. Too often the instructor made comments that indicated he was just going to do a brief overview. This isn't helpful for you to tell me the basics of what I already know. I need you to tell me what I don't know.

Very easy to follow, good flow and simply explained, exceptional professor! just wish the questions had explanations then I would give the videos a higher score .

I'm currently taking Microbiology and Lab. It is nice to be able to catch another lecture. The Lecturio lectures are actually more informative than the classroom. I am pleased with what I have learned and I know I will get the better grade.

The free experience is not similar to the paid experience. I paid for the subscription, but there entire course has only 9 assessment questions -- only in the free videos. Once you pay for Lecturio, it's a lower quality experience. :(

I like the delivery. It is formal without being stuffy. It delivers the information I need, without any useless digression. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to learn or review the basics of cardiology. And the best part is that it is not as expensive as some of the other services out there.

Having just finished the Respiratory block, these lectures aren't quite as thorough in detail regarding symptoms and examination.

Everything is clearly explained and it makes it simple to learn.

Fantastic series of lectures set out in a clear and concise fashion. A great primer for organising future learning in respiratory medicine, and a solid foundation of facts and organising principles.

It was a little rushed in places, feeling more like a quick review than actual teaching, but for the most part it was great. The professor explained things better than most of my teachers, and at the end of the day I am leaving the course with a legit grasp of whatever he covered. I would recommend this as a refresher for some of the major concepts of basic chemistry, but probably is not the best place to learn things from scratch.

Love this course and Professor Ahern's enthusiasm keeps my attention. Being able to watch the videos over and over helps the lessons sink in. For the first time I'm enjoying biochemistry. Thank you for making these videos so affordable and easy to use.

To be honest I am not a medic and just took the course because of interest. Turns out that it was hard for me to understand every detail because of me lacking terminological knowledge. But hey - learned a lot, got great insights, experienced a passionate and competent profesor who is really pleasant to listen to. Although he leads with considerable pace through the contents he explains very well and gives good summaries at the end of each lecture. So in total it is definitely a recommendation - all the more for medic-affines.
