If you delete a file on your computer, it goes to the recycle bin. From there it can easily be recovered. So, what happens when a file gets emptied from the recycle bin?
- The system simply changes a byte in the file allocation table, marking the space occupied by that file as “free.” Until your file is overwritten by new data, it’s still on your disk somewhere, wholly intact.
