Excellent lecture.
von Mariana . am 23. Januar 2024 für The Levels of Eukaryotic Gene Expression
Dr. Georgina turns difficult topics in genetics into clear and simple concepts that are easy to digest! For the first time I feel like am starting to understand the Central Dogma and related subjects better thanks to her. She's also greatly commited to student success by answering to students questions and concerns about the subject.
Great lecture.

Excellent walkthrough of the complexities of Acid-Base calculations
von Stephen F. am 06. Januar 2024 für Calculation Examples – Acid-Base Reactions
These calculations were very thorough in presenting the systematic approach to breaking down Acid-Base reactions. It's almost stoichiometric, just with different underlying equations.
Review questions were challenging, and the situation of having coefficients in the calculations (i.e. in the polyprotic case) we're covered explicitly
Excellent lecture.
von Mariana . am 14. Dezember 2023 für Endoplasmic Reticulum and Golgi Apparatus
The most important part of this lecture in my opinion is the analogies that Dr. Georgina offers. It really help us to understand for example when she associated the Golgi Complex with a Fedex facility, or when she connects the fact that liver cells have more SER since one of its important functions is detoxification.
Great, straight to the point lecture.
von Mariana . am 13. Dezember 2023 für Overview of Transcription and Translation

Amazing lecture
von Peddi A. am 25. Oktober 2023 für ATP Synthase
The video by Lecturio provides an excellent overview of the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis, two of the most important metabolic processes in the cell. These processes work together to produce ATP, the cell's energy currency.
One of the most interesting things about the electron transport chain is that it is a highly efficient way to convert energy from food into ATP. The chain uses the energy from NADH and FADH2, two electron carriers that are produced during glycolysis and the Krebs cycle, to pump protons across the inner mitochondrial membrane. This creates a proton gradient, which is like a dam holding back a reservoir of energy.
The ATP synthase enzyme then uses the energy of the proton gradient to drive the synthesis of ATP from ADP and inorganic phosphate. This process is called chemiosmosis.
The video does a great job of explaining the complex steps of the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis in a clear and concise way. It also provides helpful animations and diagrams that illustrate the process.

von Arnold C. am 09. Dezember 2022 für Cellular Structure
I am enjoying the lectures. I have two, very minor issues.
1. They are a bit too "granular". Some are so short as to prevent you from digesting the material as it is presented.
2. On several occasions, the questions were not covered in that segment but rather in the next!

I am, still, trying to put it all together because molecular biology is my most difficult subject, but Dr. Cornwall put together much that I knew -- and I am far better off than beforehand!
I, definitely, now understand as much as any medical student ought to about molecular biology -- and thus, I am glad that I made notes the whole way, giving me paperwork to re-think all that Dr. Cornwall taught me!
Thus, I wish Dr. Cornwall the best and am grateful! :)

I like this course because it is very concise and the videos are broken down into small manageable chunks. I also like how I can make quality notes from the video. I feel like I have learnt a lot from them and have found them really beneficial. The only criticism I would have is that I would like for some concepts to be made a little bit clearer as feel like I am not completely understand everything. However, that could just be because I'm a college student trying to learn uni-level stuff! I really like the questions afterwards but I think it would be even better if there was an explanation as to why that is the correct answer.

Hallow and confusing...
von Kazette Yuen Yu C. am 29. Mai 2021 für Overview of Transcription and Translation
This topic is OVERLY simplified. It needs more in-depth explaination, which she claimed to offer later. But this brief section creates even more confusion... Maybe it is better to do a PROPER introduction, or just cut this one out...
Also, she herself seems to be unsure and confused. I am not sure what her profession is, but DNA doesn't seem to be a topic, which she should lecture on... In the middle of the video she just blanked, and kind of skipped on some points... (That's not the first time or first lecture that she does that...)
P.S. The powerpoint is also not accurate... The coding strand around 0:52 is indicated as template strand... This lecture is quite disappointing, and frankly, a very low quality compare to other Lecturio's lectures.
It could be better.

Hello,
I love supporting women in science and education, etc. I also will share my honest opinion to improve the educational site. This lecturer, while alright, is not the best you could get for Lecturio students. Her constant glancing over her notes is distracting and she is not very well articulated. Even though she is Ph.D., she has not digested her lecturing materials to the master's level. It is very unfortunate that she lectures on one of the most important subjects within your platform. Why you chose her? For the sake of diversity and involvement? I am sure there are much better and knowledgeable lady lecturers. Did not you see the disengagement and flaw after a couple of her lectures? Was she so cheap?

I really like how you explain the concepts, I realized though that on some slides, there are too long sentences. Sometimes I don't really read them because I need to focus on what you say. It would be great if less words would be on the slides but in a way that is still informative. But all in all, I'm enjoying the course a lot and you did a way better job explaining the concept of shells and orbitals, than my chemistry professor did. Thanks a lot.

von Aliannya N. am 25. August 2020 für Chemistry
This lecture series is quite informative and helpful. Maybe due to different learning styles is why some students don't see it fit; however, I find it quite helpful in both refreshing minds in prior learnt concepts, preparing for classes, and studying the MCAT as a non-trad. It makes you want to further seek more information and learn about the application of the concepts, rather than simply memorising formulas or synthesis steps. Give it a try, you would learn alot about simplifications of complicated concepts. I especially enjoyed the organic chemistry lectures and the explanations about medical and organic chemistry. A bit of prior knowledge could be beneficial, but it isn't a necessity.

Most of the "Spaced Repetition" questions are certainly very LOW YIELD
von Yuan Yuan C. am 15. Juli 2020 für Microbiology: Introduction
The lecturer speaks clearly and is engaging.
The material is presented quite well - in a logical manner. I feel the material could go in a bit more depth (but perhaps later lectures will).
I would probably give this series 5 stars, however, I'm currently studying for the USMLE, and I feel half or more of the review questions are extremely low-yield. For example, there are questions about which section of a plant does a specific fungus infect. That's okay to test understanding of the lecture material presented, but I don't want to have that type of question included in my "Spaced Repetition" for memorization. It's a real waste of my limited time and brain space. Please ither remove the low-yield questions, or perhaps a better (and faster) option would be to add an option to turn off the "dumb" questions.

Micro-Lecture lacks the expected concentration of information. Lecture isn't linear in nature or coherent.
von Neuer N. am 01. Juli 2020 für One Gene One Polypeptide Hypothesis
I suppose it depends on your learning style. That is, most of the medical students I've spoken to, appreciate concise and coherent lectures - Unfortunately, in my personal opinion, this micro-lecture lacked the fundamental high concentration of information that most of us are looking for - to take notes, and practice the spaced repetition model. Instead, her speaking pace, and vocal expression are slightly too fast and the way in which she attempts to outline a basic idea isn't linear in nature which leads the viewer wanting to know more, while simultaneously trying to ignore the off-topic rants.
Note: Clearly, she's qualified to teach - however, valid of a point that may be, doesn't mean she has the practical communication skills to do so. Therefore, this is not a question of intelligence, rather - communication and linguistic expression. There will certainly people who prefer this method, I however, can not recommend.

I wish I could flag certain cards to not be included in the "spaced repetition".
von Yuan Yuan C. am 15. Juni 2020 für Cell Cycle and Cell Division
I like the format - the lectures are "short and sweet". The lecturer is reasonable easy to listen to. Perhaps it is just because this is a foundation course, but it does feel this material may not be in-depth enough for USMLE step 1. (Or perhaps because it's re-used for non-USMLE students?).
The questions are just "okay". There are a few errors, and a couple questions could be worded better.
It also seems that some of these questions are testing material that seems only marginally important, and may not be very "high-yield". I wish there was an option to flag review questions to not be included in the "spaced repetition". The "spaced repetition" idea should be for memorizing the most important details, and I don't really want to be memorizing questions that I think are of little importance, incorrect, or poorly worded. (It'd also be a good way your you at Lecturio to decide which questions should be revised - if many people flag it as "don't review again", the question probably needs revision.)

Didn't explain clearly and concisely which each type of RNA was as well as providing its clear function. Additionally, it is best to provide the correct definition thus, followed by an analogy. This particular video was hard to gather information from.

I thought that this was very thorough and went over lots of the material that my current professor is going over. Some of the questions were either a little simple but reiterated take home points, or were left-field as the material was not covered in the specific video I just watched. the course was good, the first video was condensed with a ton of information and I think you should maybe think about splitting this kind of videos in the future, I was finding myself watching other youtube videos to study this subject. it is always good to use plenty of different source of information to develop a wide perspective on a subject. but in this case, I want to rely on lecturio only.

von Ioannis B. am 14. Oktober 2018 für Hybridization – Chemical Bonding
This lecture offers only the very basic principles for understanding the concept of hybridisation with very little examples. The lecturer himself seems as if he reads notes off a text book out loud without providing appropriate explanation on the idea behind the way that hybridisation works in interacting atoms. Also, providing problem-solving exercises (like at the end of lecture 12. Covalent Bonds - Quantum Numbers), as well as, the answers to those questions - so that someone can mark their own responses - is an essential part of teaching and learning I hope we can agree.

confusing
von Nathan A. am 10. Juli 2018 für Periodic Table for Biology – Chemistry
This lecture and the one before were very confusing. You need to explain that the third energy level can technically hold UP TO 18 electrons (s,p,d sublevels) but it also fills up with the first 8 it receives. valence shells (energy shells) and energy LEVELS need to be better distinguished and not used interchangeably. Luckily, I knew the material and was able to straighten things out for myself using Google. How can I know that Lecturio will not have faulty lectures in the biochem module (material I'm not familiar with)? I am still within 10 days and am considering cancelling my lecturio subscription over this lost credibility in my mind.

First of all I would like to say that I really appreciate all of the effort by the professors and Lecturio to do great lectures, however, I would like to say, as well, that you need to focus on the exam format (In this case - USMLE Step 1). For example, in this lecture it was asked: "Which of the following is NOT a lysosome related disorder?" that is pretty good, because it has a clinical context with the subject, however this " lysosome related disorder" have never been taught by Professor Cornwall.

von Camilo P. am 03. Februar 2018 für Chemistry: Introduction
I fund the course giving me a proper intro and review of every topic. Not necessarily the best class replacement, but certainly covers each and every topic to at least a basic extent.
Excellent, with a few comments.
von Carlos C. am 03. Februar 2018 für Cellular Structure
Classes have an excellent quality, however there are small mistakes when you´re reffering to some specific molecules such as cAMP and cGMP because in some ocasions, you tend to exchange one with the other in just a few ocassions. Nonetheless, the overall course is excellent, with clear explanations.

Thank you dr. Georgina Cornwall!
Everything was perfectly understood with your lecture!
Too basic and lengthy!
von Thanks s. am 12. Juni 2017 für Cell Cycle and Cell Division
She spends half an hour explaining the steps of meiosis and doesn't even get into details... I'm not sure how she can manage to explain such simple topics in such a long time (it's half a movie time, for God's sake!).
She should base her lectures on Molecular Biology of the Cell, by Bruce Alberts et al., AT A MINIMUM.
Lecturio has many excelling lecturers; unfortunately, Dr. Cornwall is not one of them.
Love it ??

shRNA & siRNA needed to be covered
von Hamad A. am 13. Mai 2017 für Biotechnology
I like the Lecture it explain many things but there are very important thinks haven't been explained like how to knockout some genes by using shRNA or siRNA. I know that you explain CRSPR which is the greatest method ever . But I think is necessary to talk about shRNA, siRNA and what the advantage and disadvantag because everyday in school we here about them and I think they need to coverd in this lecture.
Thanks

goes too fast/vague
von Vinas P. am 30. März 2017 für Chemistry: Introduction
did a good job explaining basic atomic structure but fails to explain what an atom really looks like. Jumps into the technicalities and skims through them too quickly. I had to consult various other sources to fully understand the concept; not something I should have to do with a paid service.

von Dr Glenn G. am 25. Januar 2017 für Microbiology: Introduction
Professor Racaniello is engaging. He really has made the study of microbiology enjoyable. This is the best Lecturio course I've taken to date. He has captured my interest. I'm looking forward to the more advanced microbiology course that I'll be taking in a couple of weeks. I would also love to see a Lecturio course on the microbiome, which I feel deserves a program of its own. This alone could be a 12 hour course.

The lectures are good quality. I hope they will add more videos, so that all of the chemistry content that is covered on the MCAT is included. Three years of chemistry (two semesters of general chemistry and lab, two semesters of organic chemistry, organic lab, and two semesters of biochemistry.....) definitely wasn't covered here. This is a nice quick refresher and an overview of some important concepts, though.

Good but a bit rushed
von Paula D. am 16. Dezember 2016 für Molecular and Cell Biology
Dr. Cornwall is a good teacher. However the topics move quickly. This is great for biology majors needing a refresher. But for me it is helpful to take a second to restate an important concept or give context on what this process will impact in the future lessons. Helps the listener to remember it when you give it some context.
Good course, wonderful teacher!
von MD M. am 01. Dezember 2016 für Cell Cycle and Cell Division

von Farhan R. am 15. August 2016 für Chemistry: Introduction
It was a little rushed in places, feeling more like a quick review than actual teaching, but for the most part it was great. The professor explained things better than most of my teachers, and at the end of the day I am leaving the course with a legit grasp of whatever he covered. I would recommend this as a refresher for some of the major concepts of basic chemistry, but probably is not the best place to learn things from scratch.
