von Arnold C. am 10. Februar 2023 für Disorders of the Hepatobiliary Tract
I am a professor of medicine and have used Lecturio to review areas outside of my expertise and see how others judge the depth and breadth of material felt appropriate for medical students that I do teach. My concerns are occasional factual errors and slightly misleading or unexplained visuals. However, the presentations are, overall, of high quality and very well delivered. Making more basic science-clinical science correlations and explanations would be great but also very difficult in this format. The case based presentations are well done. For students using this as a main resource, they should be sure to use the provided textbook recommendations and answer all the questions provided, not just those in the lectures. That would deal with all my minor concerns. Medicine cannot be learned with just a series of 5 minute lectures, no matter excellent they are.

Dr Raj is very good in his teaching style in preparing students for the USMLE. He has a very good command of the subject. His teaching method is different in the sense that he does not spoon feed and wants the students to think on the material that they have learned in lecture. For those students looking for a lecture material I would recommend John B. West's small books on Respiratory Physiology and Respiratory Pathophysiology.

The lectures are very well presented and practical. The case studies are depictions of real clinical interactions that we see on a regular basis. Although I may disagree on some progressions, it's nice that my voice has been acknowledged. With any medical program, there's always going to be a variety of viewpoints and it's important that we are able to recognize all possible interventions. Overall, I do like the Lecturio format. I'm currently taking the entire endocrinology course in preparation for my five day, 40-hour Harvard Medical School course in clinical endocrinology.

Conversational, illustrative and easy to remember
von Laura G. am 29. November 2020 für Hyperlipidemia
Dr. Raj uses a conversational and repetitive lecture style that really helped me actually be able to learn and recall the material. I suppose some people may not like this taking a bit longer, but considering the fact that I was able to remember and learn the entire mechanism and pathology in around 20 minutes I think this style works well for long-term learning.

The content is great, it's just hard to understand. Dr Raj knows a lot, but it's hard to understand everything. So it's like a Ferrari without wheels, you have the power, but it struggles getting you somewhere. It's not the ideal scenario with something like this, like pathology, and because of the amount of content in the program. Like I said, other than that, great.

Very good explanations, more images and a pointer needed.
von Francisco Javier S. am 01. Mai 2020 für Glomerulonephritis
The explanations are very good and concise. Nonetheless, specially in these topics, we need to see more images, there are a lot of glomerular damage patterns even for the same disease (e.g. FSGN) and I do not think there were enough images to learn them. Also, a pointer is needed, Dr. Raj described numerous glomerular lesions and sometimes it was difficult to follow his descriptions as he didn’t have a pointer to help him locate those lesions.
Even with these problems I really liked how Dr. Raj really emphasized the diseases patterns and reminded them almost in every video (E.g. SubEPIthelial in PSGN).
I think its method is interesting.

Excelent work

Good detail, but missed earlier regions of Leukocyte migration
von Matthieu M. am 19. März 2019 für Acute inflammatory, Type I interferon and NK cell responses
When you touched on leukocyte migration, you began at the stage of "adhesion" when many medical students should include the first two steps before this. It should include Margination, where leukocytes follow lamina flow while being pushed by erythrocytes onto the barriers of the endothelial cells, then rolling, where selectin proteins are adhesion molecules which weakly attach onto these leukocytes causing them to "roll" .... and then do i believe you should be able to talk about the adhesion and transmigration parts. If you could add this in, it would be quite useful. especially because many students are trusting these lecture to have the utmost information. Thank you very much.

von Sara D. am 17. Januar 2019 für Ovary: Secondary and Mature Follicle – Female Reproductive System
Its a good lecture but histology is complicated and I wish they would use arrows to point at structures he is talking about instead of just saying look at the right hand side. Or at least put in more labels.
Lectures need work!
von Sara D. am 15. Januar 2019 für Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
These lectures are overly simplified and too short so they don't provide enough or even any detail on the organism, diagnosis, presentation, and treatment. Seemed like a waist of my time to even listen to these. Lengthen the videos and they will become more useful.
Great!

von Josefine C. am 07. Januar 2019 für Bronchogenic Carcinoma, Osteogenic Sarcoma & Grading– Neoplasia
As a Danish medical student, with English only as my second language, I admit, I had to spend some time "tuning in" on Dr. Raj's way of speaking. See, he's an extremely fast speaker, but as I did get used to this, I really learned to appreciate his way of teaching. Actually, his way of speaking kind of peaks my attention and focus, since my brain has to work harder for it.
Thanks, Dr.!

The image in this lecture is not great to comprehend as its a little too messy. I really found the teaching methods used here beneficial. He'd go through the pathway and emphasizing key steps, then point out where they'll be important down the line, then come back to continue the pathway. Too fast, unfocused and not detailed enough
von Isaac V. am 26. März 2018 für Potter's Syndrome
The lecturer does a great job at keeping the presentation interesting, however he rushed over several points in the topics to the point in which he ignored some of the information present in his slides.
Also, it feels out of place when he jumps to different topics that have little to nothing to do with the present lecture.
Finally, the lecture feels SO rushed that he missed key aspects of the pathology of every desease he talked about, especially Potter Sequence and its etiologies.
Thanks

Once again, Dr. Raj is blowing my mind with the way he teach medicine. Connecting everything from here on out to eternity. I have a question about that second quiz question about sepsis before ARDS. The answer was that ARDS following sepsis will decrease the cardiac output, and that was according to what Dr. Raj said in the lectures. Is it possible that we could also have a situation with respiratory rate increasing?

"nutrition"
von Caleb V. am 07. Januar 2018 für Nutrition
Incomplete information.
I'm fascinated with the fact-based approach to the biochemistry of the human body. I like learning about the role that nutrition plays in disease prevention and the overall affects on human health. However, this course appears to still support the outdated views on proper nutrition and nutrition-related disease prevention. I feel that physicians do not get sufficient quality education on nutrition and that corporate interests still play too much of a role in both nutrition studies and nutritional recommendations. Today's healthcare system is more of a "disease care" system, and this profit-centered business approach, specifically with Pharmaceuticals, is doing little good, and in fact, doing a disservice to the overall welfare of the American people.

von Tomás N. am 27. Dezember 2017 für Introduction to Pulmonary Pathology
Very good although there are some erros in the quiz. As an exemple, the quiz says that the central receptores are responsive to CO2 when in the physiology course it says that it is in fact responsive to H+ (after a reaction involving CO2).
I would recommend some mending in quiz errors.

A very concise lecture but too much so. I was really hoping to learn more about mechanisms and detail. Difficult to follow:
von sidra M. am 23. Oktober 2017 für Hyperlipidemia
-There was alot of jumping ahead and then circling back to the same point which made what should have been a 19 minute lecture, took about an hours lecture with all the pausing, going through transcripts and even looking up certain references myself to complete this lecture. The whole point of lecturio is high yield learning in a timely fashion. I appreciate the effort done and liked his style of teaching enthusiasm, however there needs to be less going off on tangents before the point has been made.
Top quality teaching, top quality humour! Congratulations
von Ricardo V. am 23. Oktober 2017 für Diabetes Insipidus (DI): Management
Congratulations once more, Dr. Raj. Learning is much funnier when lecturers have a good sense of humour. Explaining the management of Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus is not an easy task, but putting humour the middle of that is even harder. You succeeded very well in both tasks. I liked it specially when you said "go to the clinic, kickbutt and be hoisted by your collagues" after discussing the wise intersection of topics between pathology (bipolar disease, and its chronic lithium treatment) and pharmacology (amiloride). Ingenious!
Excellent
von AIKATERINI D. am 23. Oktober 2017 für Cardiovascular Histology

Good one. More pictorial would be necessary for better understanding.
Relax
von Tracey H. am 21. Oktober 2017 für Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone-System
It would be nice if the material was presented in a less intense manner. It feels more like he is prepping football players for a big game. It is very distracting. Perhaps, if the lecture didn't feel so choppy it would be more enjoyable.

I love this course! Dr. Raj makes path memorable and fun to learn
Maybe good for US students, impossible for euro students.
von Bjarni J. am 12. September 2017 für Cardiovascular Pathology
This course is near impossible to take for a European, as our curriculum is structured differently than in the US. Dr. Raj keeps referring to diseases that may have been covered in another video, and sometimes he just refers to them by acronym, not even a full name, so redundant are they. But for a European who hasn't had that part yet, using them as an example to explain a concept means we don't understand the concept at all.
Poor teaching
von Charles R. am 11. September 2017 für Respiratory Pathology
I do not like the style of Carlo Raj at all. I am almost considering cancelling my subscription, because he is almost omnipresent in all videos. He basically just reads or says some non sense to the camera. Is that teaching?
Clear, concise, and even fun
von Eunbi C. am 08. September 2017 für Neoplasia, Dysplasia, Tumor and Cancer: Differentiating Definitions– Neoplasia
I disagree with the comment below. I think he is a very good lecturer. Clear and concise. Yes, he does he have his unique gestures and tones, but so what? It's just different from the traditional, not wrong or anything. I found his lecture interesting. I don't think he was mocking anyone.

I really thought that the lecture was right on point and stressed the most important "boards" material. It was very well organized and presented! I am taking my USMLE step 2 CK in couple of days, and after months of intensive preparation for the exam, I realized that I have learned and reviewed so much that It sort of hard to keep it all organized and compartmentalized in my head. These videos definitely put things in perspective for me.

von Azo A. am 14. April 2017 für Adrenal Gland Disorders
Dr Raj was very specific and detailed in a very little time which makes the lecture interesting.
Tries to cover Step 1 and Step 2 material in one course, but falls short of being helpful for either test
von Aziz N. am 08. April 2017 für Cardiovascular Pathology
I use Goljan and Pathoma for pathology and my med school "assigns" reading from Robbins Pathology. All three are great resources for preclinical pathology courses and Goljan and Pathoma are the go-to's for every medical students prep for Step 1.
Dr. Raj is not like his mentor Dr. Goljan. I have yet to see a true pathogenesis lecture or even see histological images of any of the heart diseases (he barely even has gross images of cardio pathology). He spends time covering management/treatment when he should be covering relevant preclinical pathology. I had high hopes from a guy whose mentor is Dr. Goljan. Hopefully his other pathology subjects are better.

Great lecturer. I like how he stops and quizzes the listener in such a matter of fact way. Very engaging and you get mad at yourself when you don't know :).
The lecturer is awesome

I've really learned a lot! I like how the lecturer uses repetition and reinforcement of important facts throughout the video series. I have one small comment, though, about the transcripts. Not all the videos have one, and transcripts help me to save time when I wasn't able to understand some points because then I will just read the part I did not understand instead of rewinding the video by about 30 seconds. Hopefully this will be solved soon, but other than that, I've got no complaints!
Dr. Raj is Awesome!
von Jessica G. am 06. Dezember 2016 für Leukemia – White Blood Cell Pathology (WBC)
Thanks Dr Raj, I really enjoy your lectures. Concise and to the point, highlighting exactly what is in my first aid book. Great review. Thanks so much!
What more can you ask?
von Vivian D. am 03. Dezember 2016 für Renal Pathology
Dr. Raj transforms the Pathology course into medicine by integrating everything from Physio to Biochem. Literally, you feel like if you are in an actual clinical setting. Renal pathophysiology is delivered in a concise, serious but at the same time humorous way. At the end of the lecture I see Nephrology from a whole different perspective.
Very helpful and easy to use

Excellent review of the Renal System

This video series has been excellent in preparing for my block exams. Not only does Dr. Raj go through the pathology, but he covers important concepts in physiology and integrates all this information in a very clear format.
JUST LIKE AN OVERVIEW
von RAMJIE L. am 16. November 2016 für Nutrition
not much details. its like a lecture for non medical students.
Not only will you learn about Nutrition; you could potentially lose weight!
von Christopher D. am 30. Oktober 2016 für Nutrition
In this Nutrition course, Dr. Cornwall elaborates some basic nutritional principles that are essential for any student of Human physiology to understand. The way she presents the information is in much greater detail than what I was exposed to in the small Nutrition course held in Medical school. I particularly liked learning about the Mifflin-St. Jeor Formula for calculating Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR); it literally changed the way I look at food!
Learn it.

Too elemtary and not enough info
von Martin F. am 26. Oktober 2016 für Nutrition
The program was to elementary in nature and not deep enough. Sections on pregnancy nutrition was very superficial

I just like the way it is being delivered: smooth, flowing, clinically relevant and best of all with a great touch of humour! I just love it!
He knows what I need to know because he has been where I am right now.
von olawale o. am 24. September 2016 für Pancreatic Disease and Diabetes
Dr. Raj knows what I need to know because he has been where I am right now. The integration is what makes the part of Dr. Carlos patho. amazing. He went to the same medical school I am attending right now, so, that for me, is nothing short of amazing. Nothing against lecturio physio., but they need to take a page from Dr. Carlos, and integrate, integrate, and integrate. You can never have too much of integration at this level.
excellent course with hard job ....thx
von anas j. am 18. September 2016 für Renal Pathology
Actually it was hard job to do these lectures , good construction of slides and ideas orders ,with excellent knowledge of how confusing is born ....finally lecturer has presents lectures that in a way that sometimes need sense of humor , which is good ice breaker . i recommend more lectures regarding fluids management which was very informative and touch the clinical application .

von Grace G. am 20. Juni 2016 für Renal Pathology
Dr. Raj not only does Pathology, he ties the concepts of Pathology into Biochemistry and Physiology. After all, medicine is not about one system. In addition, Dr. Raj's knowledge and passion for the subject area keeps you attentive. I have learned so much, thank you!
