This course provides APRN students with practical frameworks for evidence-based psychopharmacological prescribing, emphasizing clinical decision-making processes and cognitive strategies to avoid diagnostic pitfalls such as premature closure. Students analyze real-world case presentations spanning major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, insomnia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar II disorder across diverse patient populations. The course equips FNP and PsychNP students with the clinical reasoning skills necessary to select appropriate pharmacological interventions while considering patient-specific factors and treatment outcomes.
