Mit dem Kurs „Physics (EN | OmU)” können Sie sich bestmöglich auf die Physikklausuren im Medizinstudium vorbereiten. Auch für die Vorbereitung auf den schriftlichen Teil des Physikum sind alle IMPP-relevanten Themen enthalten.
Dozent dieses Kurses ist Jared Rovny, PhD und Hochschullehrer der Yale University. Die Videos sind in englischer Sprache zugänglich und verfügen über deutsche Untertitel (OmU: Original mit Untertitel).

Die Physik ist die Naturwissenschaft, die sich mit der Erforschung der grundlegenden Eigenschaften von Materie und Energie befasst. Die Physik war eines der ersten, wenn nicht das erste Wissenschaftsgebiet, das aus der Philosophie unter dem Oberbegriff Naturphilosophie hervorging. Seit ihren Anfängen ist die Physik eng mit der Mathematik verbunden. Das ultimative Ziel dieser wissenschaftlichen Disziplin ist das quantitative und objektive Verständnis des Universums. Heute ist die Physik ein sehr vielfältiger Bereich mit zahlreichen Teilgebieten, wie z. B. der klassischen Physik, der Kernphysik, der Atomphysik, der mechanischen Physik und vielen mehr.

In diesem Kurs werden Sie mit den mathematischen Methoden der Physik vertraut gemacht, und es werden verschiedene Energiearten wie Kraft, Arbeit, Impuls und Gleichgewicht, Elektrostatik, Stromkreise und Magnetismus, Licht und Schall, Thermodynamik und Thermochemie behandelt. Weitere Themengebiete, die besprochen werden, sind das Atom und ionisierende Strahlung.

Die Physik stellt die Basis für viele Innovationen unserer heutigen Zeit dar. Für Medizinstudierende ist ein solides Verständnis der Physik ein wichtiger Eckpfeiler, um Grundlagen der Biophysik zu verstehen, die in der Humanphysiologie häufig Anwendung finden. Beispiele für diese Grundlagen sind die Strömungsmechanik des Blutflusses, die Bioelektrizität bei Membranpotentialen, die Bioenergetik und Thermodynamik bei der Speicherung von Energie in Form von ATP und exothermen Reaktionen, die ATP abbauen.
Darüber hinaus ist die Physik unentbehrlich, um die Grundlagen der heutigen Bildgebung, z. B. in Form des Röntgens, der Computertomografie (CT) und der Magnetresonanztomografie (MRT) zu verstehen und anwenden zu können.

Jared Rovny

Dr. Jared Rovny has been a Lecturer at Yale University in Connecticut, USA since 2013.
He obtained his PhD in Physics from Yale University in 2019. He was awarded the D. Allan Bromley Graduate Fellowship in Physics in 2019 and the Princeton Quantum Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in 2020.
Currently, he works with Yale's Center for Teaching and Learning at Yale University.
Due to his achievements, he earned the Yale College Prize Teaching Fellowship for his work in PHYS 171 (University Physics for the Life Sciences).

Hetal Verma, MD

Dr. Hetal Verma is a Clinical Instructor of Radiology and the Co-Director of the Radiology Cambridge Integrated Clerkship at Harvard Medical School, MA, USA.
She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed her Breast Imaging fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Since 2012, she is the Director of Breast Imaging at Cambridge Health Alliance Radiology, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
She is passionate about women's health and has vast experience in teaching medical students and residents at Harvard Medical School.
