Errors in the Video
von Peddi A. am 12. Oktober 2023 für Saccharides – Simple Carbohydrates
The following are the errors in the information you provided:
00:24 The general formula for monosaccharides is Cx(H2O)x, where x is equal to the number of carbon atoms in the monosaccharide. For example, the structural formula for glucose is C6H12O6, which means that it has six carbon atoms and six water molecules.
01:15 The structural formula for lactose is C12H22O11. This means that it is a disaccharide made up of two monosaccharides, glucose and galactose.
01:39 Polysaccharides are polymers of monosaccharides, but they do not necessarily have to have the same repeating sugar unit throughout. For example, amylopectin is a polysaccharide made up of glucose molecules, but it has a branched structure.
Here is a corrected version of the information you provided:
Carbohydrates are molecules whose name literally means hydrates of carbon. This is because monosaccharides, the simplest carbohydrates, have a ratio of one carbon atom to two hydrogen atoms to one oxygen atom, the same as water.
The general formula for monosaccharides is Cx(H2O)x, where x is equal to the number of carbon atoms in the monosaccharide. For example, the structural formula for glucose is C6H12O6, which means that it has six carbon atoms and six water molecules.
Disaccharides are carbohydrates that are made up of two monosaccharides. They are formed by a glycosidic linkage between the two monosaccharides. Disaccharides have the general formula C12H22O11. Examples of disaccharides include sucrose (glucose + fructose), lactose (glucose + galactose), and maltose (glucose + glucose).
Polysaccharides are carbohydrates that are made up of many monosaccharides. They are formed by glycosidic linkages between the monosaccharides. Polysaccharides have the general formula (C6H10O5)n, where n is the number of monosaccharides in the polysaccharide. Examples of polysaccharides include cellulose, starch, glycogen, and chitin.
Polysaccharides do not necessarily have to have the same repeating sugar unit throughout. For example, amylopectin is a polysaccharide made up of glucose molecules, but it has a branched structure.

Resourceful Review on Mucous vs. Serous Glands
von Shane D. am 25. August 2023 für Mucous and Serous Glands
Although I am at present an unknowledgeable M0, I appreciate how informative this introductory lecture is on mucous versus serous glands, and that an associated slide with images is presented. Histology is a notably difficult course in medical school, especially for people without prior exposure. What textbook(s) or online readings or articles would you recommend reading to further supplement learning of mucous and serous glands and epithelium throughout the human body?

Immature Bone: Helpful but Lacking Resource
von Shane D. am 25. August 2023 für Immature Bone
While this was certainly a helpful lecture with breaking down differences between mature versus immature bone, not revealing the labeled diagram could prove detrimental to student learning. I noticed when quizzing myself that stronger learning might be taking place, but ultimately, I am not sure if everyone myself included could fully and adequately label every structure on this histological slide. Could you provide these diagrams with labels if they are not already somewhere? My histology atlas displays images differently.

It's great how he uses the illustrations to guide us through the structures, however the quality of the illustrations are very poor and too small.

Make videos longer ( about 10-20 minutes) and add a new feature just inverse of bookmatcher
von Majid N. am 23. Oktober 2022 für Abdomen [Archive]
I think the videos are too short. Most of them are about 1 or 2 minutes. I think it make it hard to focus while studying, it would be much better if videos where usually about 10_20 minutes.
Also I feel there is a lack of a feature just inverse of bookmatcher. I mean it would be great if after watching a series of videos for example videos of rectus sheath I could find out which pages of Grey's anatomy or Netter atlas of anatomy I can study to deepen my knowledge.

von Deborah H. am 21. Mai 2022 für Abdomen [Archive]
I will always recommend the Lecturio platform to anyone studying for the medical boards who have been away from clinical and didactic. The level of detail that the lectures approach is so helpful. However, sometimes the bigger perspective should always be kept and mentioned throughout the lectures. There are times when I "lose sight of the forest for the trees". It will also help to remind the listener of associated functions constantly. Thank you, sincerely.

Also, she herself seems to be unsure and confused. I am not sure what her profession is, but DNA doesn't seem to be a topic, which she should lecture on... In the middle of the video she just blanked, and kind of skipped on some points... (That's not the first time or first lecture that she does that...)
P.S. The powerpoint is also not accurate... The coding strand around 0:52 is indicated as template strand... This lecture is quite disappointing, and frankly, a very low quality compare to other Lecturio's lectures.
Explanation is top notch.

von Soren A. am 17. April 2021 für Coronary Circulation – Heart (Cor)
Clear presentation AND good selection of figures to show both a. and v. circulation. It is an added plus that all figures have the names in latin and not English. In other of the anatomy videos (i.e. upper limb, brain) the names in English, whereas keeping it in latin is more international than English and makes us all think that we are treating a scientific topic with a long history. Keeping it in latin makes i more clear and less ambiguous than English. Keep names of anatomical structures in latin in you Lecturio lectures.

von Saradha B. am 23. November 2020 für Bone Formation
So far this lecture series has been good but this particular lecture is so hard to follow. The explanations aren't clear, and the professor not pointing out anything is a problem. This has been pointed out in previous lectures as well, and the explanation given is that it's better for us if we try to find it ourselves. This is the first time we are coming across structures like this. It would be better if the professor at least points out an example to us for the first time and then allows us to identify it ourselves later. Otherwise, these lectures have been good except for this one.

Micro-Lecture lacks the expected concentration of information. Lecture isn't linear in nature or coherent.
von Neuer N. am 01. Juli 2020 für One Gene One Polypeptide Hypothesis
I suppose it depends on your learning style. That is, most of the medical students I've spoken to, appreciate concise and coherent lectures - Unfortunately, in my personal opinion, this micro-lecture lacked the fundamental high concentration of information that most of us are looking for - to take notes, and practice the spaced repetition model. Instead, her speaking pace, and vocal expression are slightly too fast and the way in which she attempts to outline a basic idea isn't linear in nature which leads the viewer wanting to know more, while simultaneously trying to ignore the off-topic rants.
Note: Clearly, she's qualified to teach - however, valid of a point that may be, doesn't mean she has the practical communication skills to do so. Therefore, this is not a question of intelligence, rather - communication and linguistic expression. There will certainly people who prefer this method, I however, can not recommend.

von Brandia H. am 05. Juni 2020 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Each section was very concise and reminded me of details that I had forgotten. It also taught me the clinical application for each injury/condition. I use these as a supplement to my medical school lectures which I don't have time to rewatch 2 hours of lecture for 3 classes/day. It's also very helpful that each quiz is linked to the relevant material that I need to know.

Complicated diagram. Not for beginners.
von Devin R. am 08. Februar 2020 für Coagulation Cascade
I decided to rate this lecture as a 1 because of the confusing diagram. If the diagram would have been broken down it might have been better to learn from. But having the entire diagram of extrinsic and intrinsic pathways completely filled out at once made it incredibly difficult to follow along. I felt like it was unclear and jumped around a bit.

von Brandon S. am 07. Januar 2020 für Theories of Attitude and Behavior Change (PSY)
Khan Academy shows the path it takes for a message to be received which is missing from this video (i.e. the target characteristics first determine whether the message or source is evaluated).
"The central route is used when the message recipient has the motivation as well as the ability to think about the message and its topic"
"The peripheral route is used when the message recipient has little or no interest in the subject and/or has a lesser ability to process the message."
Both should be on the same slide introducing the concepts of central/peripheral routes.
"The theory states that when people observe a model performing a behavior and the consequences of that behavior, they remember the sequence of events and use this information to guide subsequent behaviors"
Should be the definition of SCT. Much clearer.

von Katherine G. am 26. Dezember 2019 für Ribosome

two stars just for the effort. But its ore like reading fro book. Nothing different. Very boring. No interaction.
Unclear and hard to follow.
von Marquis H. am 09. Dezember 2019 für Types of RNA
Didn't explain clearly and concisely which each type of RNA was as well as providing its clear function. Additionally, it is best to provide the correct definition thus, followed by an analogy. Starting with an analogy of how the different RNA types can make the lesson hard to follow as well as, causing confusion in the actual definition of the term. This particular video was hard to gather information from.

Where are the acidic amino acids?
von Sergio N. am 03. Januar 2019 für Hydrophilic and Ionic R-groups – Amino Acids
This video did not really show Aspartic Acid or Glutamic Acid?
The lecture is discouraging:
von Sunil K. am 02. Januar 2019 für Cell Cycle Controls
The lecturer did not appear confident looking into notes too often. Too many hand gestures are a distraction especially when not pointing to the stuff on the slides.
The material was not presented in an easy or simple way. Made it more complicated that it actually is. I feel difficulty in continuing to the next lectures without understanding this.
He amazingly simplifies these things
von ari t. am 01. Januar 2019 für Structure – Amino Acids
He very easily simplifies things. So this is why I give him a five star review

von Yasho S. am 15. Dezember 2018 für Knee Joint – Joints of Lower Limb
Good brief overview of the knee joint but I wish the lecturer would have gone more in-depth about the menisci, and the rotational and translational movements of the knee.
decent, but wanting of some really beneficial features.
von Sean G. am 15. Dezember 2018 für Lower Limb Anatomy [Archive]
similar to Upper Limb; layout & structure of course is quite good. concise & detailed. but the images & diagrams used truly do have very small labels, often making them useful. The lecturer uses the cursor here and then but thats not conducive to great learning either. you really need to be visualising these structures in a large & clear format.
Another point would be to include some mnemonics! it is no secret that these are one of the most useful tools for anatomy students in remembering complex structures, so why omit them?
a final criticism is that it just lacks some more clinical relevance.
High yield, key points

Too many topics distracting from coagulation
von Sam R. am 05. Dezember 2018 für Coagulation Cascade
The image in this lecture is not great to comprehend as its a little too messy. I like how the protein K factors were IDfiable, but the discussion regarding it mentioned warfarin too much... lets focus on the cascades here and the process, and save the drug and protein K processing for the other lecture on those specific subjects.

TOP stuff ! I wish my lecturer was like that because you are amazing
informative and interesting to read
von Mazen A. am 03. Oktober 2018 für Cells of the Epidermis
this article handles the explanation for skin layers; which I find as the hardest of the topics, in a well organised and logically acceptable building. It is really interesting to read. It summarizes the topic but without the loss of any crucial information. Also, the use of well-labelled pictures and microscopic slides is a plus and catalyse the understanding. I would recommend this to my premedical colleagues.

von Kathryn S. am 16. Mai 2018 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
I found this lecture to be clear, concise and suitable as a complement to lectures, textbook and cadaver work. Could you make the diagrams and their labels a bit larger, as they are difficult to see on smartphone, and there is no zoom facility.
Great lecturer. Great explanation
von Luana H. am 16. Mai 2018 für Gastrulation and the Trilaminar Embryo
This is a great lecturer who gives great detailed explanation. Unfortunately, he's limited by Lecturio, as it hasn't been able to incorporate videos as visual aid to the lectures yet. Embryo, particularly, is very complex an image to mind picture, especially to young learners, and when you feel there were a few things left to imagination, you know something is missing. I believe videos would be the cherry on top, and would make a great tool for what I think it is almost a perfect way of learning, as it is Lecturio and its lecturers.

Thoracic viscera
von Michael E. am 03. Mai 2018 für Thoracic Viscera with Dr. Canby
Excellent presentation by the lecturer I don't think it be could be better explained. Looking forward to the rest of this topic.
Poor Presentation
von Flora I. am 01. Mai 2018 für Veins – Thoracic Vessels
I chose this rating because the structures the Lecturer is describing are unclear and difficult to follow. If the instructure had better visualization--such as highlighting the veins as he spoke--that would help immensley. An additional thing that would have helped is to have a visual summary of which veins feed into which at the end of the segment so the students could organize the vein tributaries better in their minds.
I like the over all information, it just needs to be presented better.

I cannot believe I am just now finding this resource during my dedicated Step 1 period. However, I am so glad that I found it now, right at the beginning of Step prep, rather than later. I plan to use this as one of my main resources for the remainder of time up until my exam. I realized while reading First Aid that, although I had known the subjects very well at one point, that my foundation was not as solid as it once was. This is perfect for reviewing and providing the big picture for everything. It's also an amazing resource for providing the "why" and "how" behind all the small factoids written in First Aid which is just what I need. It's so much easier to retain the information when you actually understand what is going on rather than memorizing a 650+ page book of bullet point lists/facts. This is great. I was a huge fan of Boards and Beyond, but I have since ditched that resource and am fully focusing on this one since this seems a lot more comprehensive and better taught (though Dr. Ryan has also done an amazing job too). Thank you guys so much for coming out with such a well thought out and developed and thorough resource. This is going to make board prep so much smoother. If I end up scoring highly on Step 1, I will make sure to write a review on Reddit, SDN, etc raving about Lecturio.

Fantastic! It’s like you’ve melted the fear away for me! I can watch over and over and over until I can nearly repeat it word for word. Sometimes when you study you can know something but in a multiple choice question (MCQ) situation later you can be stumped - while I found the sentences are in my head and it’s like being able to check the lecture! Repetition is the best way to learn! You couldn’t ask a class lecturer to keep going over stuff but with your amazing classes you can!! Thanks !!! Telling all my classmates about your article.

von David D. am 29. Mai 2017 für Lower Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Though I wouldn't want to hurt the instructors feelings, I think the concepts are all included, but his ability to convey the information in a coherent, and appealing matter are lacking. Anyone can just read you the concept and put slide after slide, but there is a finesse to the presentation of material. If every lecturer could have that finesse, this would be the most incredible resource for medical students around the world.

Everything is covered very well and in a comprehensive manner, but coverage of thoracic osteology is missing. There is also no lecture about the muscles surrounding the thoracic area.
