  3. 25 J
  4. 0.5 J
  5. 1/50 J
  1. For the same volume, the denser substance takes more heat per change in temperature
  2. The denser substance has more change in temperature per added heat, for the same volume
  3. The two substances must have the same heat capacity
  4. An equal mass of the two substances have different heat capacities
  5. An equal volume of the two substances have the same heat capacities
  1. cᵥ is the specific heat capacity at constant volume, c_p is the specific heat capacity at constant pressure
  2. cᵥ is the specific heat capacity at high volumes, c_p is the specific heat capacity at high pressures
  3. cᵥ is the specific heat capacity at low volumes, c_p is the specific heat capacity at low pressures
  4. cᵥ is almost always the same as c_p
  5. cᵥ is the heat capacity at constant volume, c_p is the heat capacity at constant pressure
  1. At constant pressure some heat goes into doing work since the volume of gas changes, but at constant volume all heat goes into changing the temperature of the gas as there is no volume change
  2. At high pressure more heat is needed to change the temperature of the gas as compared to when the gas is at constant volume
  3. Some heat goes into keeping the gas at constant pressure rather than changing its temperature hence c_p > cᵥ
  4. At constant volume the temperature change is faster since pressure also increases when heat is transferred to the gas
  5. The relation is not accurate as the specific heat capacities of gas at constant volume and pressure are approximately the same
