The most important part of this lecture in my opinion is the analogies that Dr. Georgina offers. Great, straight to the point lecture.

Amazing lecture
von Peddi A. am 25. Oktober 2023 für ATP Synthase
The video by Lecturio provides an excellent overview of the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis, two of the most important metabolic processes in the cell. These processes work together to produce ATP, the cell's energy currency.
One of the most interesting things about the electron transport chain is that it is a highly efficient way to convert energy from food into ATP. The chain uses the energy from NADH and FADH2, two electron carriers that are produced during glycolysis and the Krebs cycle, to pump protons across the inner mitochondrial membrane. This creates a proton gradient, which is like a dam holding back a reservoir of energy.
The ATP synthase enzyme then uses the energy of the proton gradient to drive the synthesis of ATP from ADP and inorganic phosphate. This process is called chemiosmosis.
The video does a great job of explaining the complex steps of the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis in a clear and concise way. It also provides helpful animations and diagrams that illustrate the process.

Resourceful Review on Mucous vs. Serous Glands
von Shane D. am 25. August 2023 für Mucous and Serous Glands
Although I am at present an unknowledgeable M0, I appreciate how informative this introductory lecture is on mucous versus serous glands, and that an associated slide with images is presented. Histology is a notably difficult course in medical school, especially for people without prior exposure. What textbook(s) or online readings or articles would you recommend reading to further supplement learning of mucous and serous glands and epithelium throughout the human body?

Immature Bone: Helpful but Lacking Resource
von Shane D. am 25. August 2023 für Immature Bone
While this was certainly a helpful lecture with breaking down differences between mature versus immature bone, not revealing the labeled diagram could prove detrimental to student learning. I noticed when quizzing myself that stronger learning might be taking place, but ultimately, I am not sure if everyone myself included could fully and adequately label every structure on this histological slide. Could you provide these diagrams with labels if they are not already somewhere? My histology atlas displays images differently.

Thus, I wish Dr. Cornwall the best and am grateful! :)

cutting the dna
von Jasmine M. am 27. September 2021 für Cutting the DNA
in depth knowledge on DNA splicing, ecor 1 and so the base pairs want to stick together and then ligase comes along to stick together the backbones, the phosphate-sugar backbones. Here you can see how the two pieces come together and now we have a recombinant DNA molecule. Again, we are generally looking at a circular chromosome and a foreign piece of DNA being inserted into that circular chromosome and so we'll see two ends of sticky ends and insertion of that sequence.

Excellent lecture but couldn’t assimilate .
von Omprakash P. am 23. September 2021 für CNS - Pharmacology
Presentation was really good . Extraordinary presentation needs a flow . It should be like a story . Like a natural history for any disease and more about evolution in case of treatment or intervention . Though the presentation had everything and was easy to understand but still from the student ( my ) point of view it was difficult to assimilate . Over all it was a fantastic lecture .

Thank you so much, psyched to have found this! I only wish this material was downloadable for future reference. Hoping it could be. Thanks again! Hallow and confusing...
von Kazette Yuen Yu C. am 29. Mai 2021 für Overview of Transcription and Translation
This topic is OVERLY simplified. It needs more in-depth explaination, which she claimed to offer later. But this brief section creates even more confusion... Maybe it is better to do a PROPER introduction, or just cut this one out...
Also, she herself seems to be unsure and confused. I am not sure what her profession is, but DNA doesn't seem to be a topic, which she should lecture on... In the middle of the video she just blanked, and kind of skipped on some points... (That's not the first time or first lecture that she does that...)
P.S. The powerpoint is also not accurate... The coding strand around 0:52 is indicated as template strand... This lecture is quite disappointing, and frankly, a very low quality compare to other Lecturio's lectures.

An Amazing Foundation for Exams
von Adam W. am 20. April 2021 für Cardiovascular Pharmacology
Lecturio has the amazing ability to recruit professors that are not only knowledgeable but excel at teaching students. I wish I'd discovered the site earlier.
One of the biggest problems professors have in medical school is that they often forget that they're teaching people who don't already know the material. It can make what seems to the professor like a straightforward lecture into an unintelligible mess to their students. Dr. Shukle was able to break down pharmacology in a much easier to understand format than my professors. While it may not have all the information people will see on a school test, it provides a solid foundation that I used to go back over my lectures and fill in details (this time having a much better understanding of what they were talking about and consequently getting much more out of it).
I can't comment on their lecturio's affect on the USMLE, as I haven't taken that yet. But I do feel much better informed about pharmacology moving forward, and I recommend this series to everyone who felt like I did when listening to their school lectures.

Hope Georgina used a cursor or infra red light to point exactly what she was talking similar to other lecturers from other videos. An animated video clip of how each or some of the topics would be very useful.

von bibi h. am 11. April 2021 für Phenotypes Affected by Environment and Epistasis – Beyond Gregor Mendel
Hello,
I love supporting women in science and education, etc. I also will share my honest opinion to improve the educational site. This lecturer, while alright, is not the best you could get for Lecturio students. Her constant glancing over her notes is distracting and she is not very well articulated. Even though she is Ph.D., she has not digested her lecturing materials to the master's level. It is very unfortunate that she lectures on one of the most important subjects within your platform. Why you chose her? For the sake of diversity and involvement? I am sure there are much better and knowledgeable lady lecturers. Did not you see the disengagement and flaw after a couple of her lectures? Was she so cheap?

Dr. Meyer is a great teacher, a lot from my experience with his videos regarding the introduction to the mammalian cell however, this video definitely left a lot to be discerned and was not very informative. This lecture was so confusing.
von Saradha B. am 23. November 2020 für Bone Formation
So far this lecture series has been good but this particular lecture is so hard to follow. The explanations aren't clear, and the professor not pointing out anything is a problem. This has been pointed out in previous lectures as well, and the explanation given is that it's better for us if we try to find it ourselves. This is the first time we are coming across structures like this. It would be better if the professor at least points out an example to us for the first time and then allows us to identify it ourselves later. Otherwise, these lectures have been good except for this one.

I saw many times the video, take notes but I don't understand at all this video; think is some confusing :(
It makes histology simply amazing
von Favour E. am 20. Oktober 2020 für Epithelial Tissue
I chose 5 stars because the lectures were detailed and there were enough slides to explain every point. This really helped me while studying the topic in my textbook as I understood the slides and why they were so; why some looked pale and others look deeply stained, it's simply amazing.
I although didn't like that some of the lectures had the last few seconds cut out (for me).
I would recommend this lecture to those who have been trying to figure out why histological slides are why they are and have thus found histology "boring".
Well simplified ????

von Soren A. am 11. Oktober 2020 für Muscle Tissue
For the short duration of the videos, less than an hour, important material is covered and in a way so it is possible to remember. There is even time for a little anecdote about muscle lengths, which makes it easier to remember afterwards. The kind of tricks good teachers use.
it is simple and nice. no idea if it is sufficient.

Micro-Lecture lacks the expected concentration of information. Lecture isn't linear in nature or coherent.
von Neuer N. am 01. Juli 2020 für One Gene One Polypeptide Hypothesis
I suppose it depends on your learning style. That is, most of the medical students I've spoken to, appreciate concise and coherent lectures - Unfortunately, in my personal opinion, this micro-lecture lacked the fundamental high concentration of information that most of us are looking for - to take notes, and practice the spaced repetition model. Instead, her speaking pace, and vocal expression are slightly too fast and the way in which she attempts to outline a basic idea isn't linear in nature which leads the viewer wanting to know more, while simultaneously trying to ignore the off-topic rants.
Note: Clearly, she's qualified to teach - however, valid of a point that may be, doesn't mean she has the practical communication skills to do so. Therefore, this is not a question of intelligence, rather - communication and linguistic expression. There will certainly people who prefer this method, I however, can not recommend.
It's useful for me the videos

I wish I could flag certain cards to not be included in the "spaced repetition".
von Yuan Yuan C. am 15. Juni 2020 für Cell Cycle and Cell Division
I like the format - the lectures are "short and sweet". The lecturer is reasonable easy to listen to. Perhaps it is just because this is a foundation course, but it does feel this material may not be in-depth enough for USMLE step 1. (Or perhaps because it's re-used for non-USMLE students?).
The questions are just "okay". There are a few errors, and a couple questions could be worded better.
It also seems that some of these questions are testing material that seems only marginally important, and may not be very "high-yield". I wish there was an option to flag review questions to not be included in the "spaced repetition". The "spaced repetition" idea should be for memorizing the most important details, and I don't really want to be memorizing questions that I think are of little importance, incorrect, or poorly worded. (It'd also be a good way your you at Lecturio to decide which questions should be revised - if many people flag it as "don't review again", the question probably needs revision.)

von Marquis H. am 09. Dezember 2019 für Types of RNA
Didn't explain clearly and concisely which each type of RNA was as well as providing its clear function. Additionally, it is best to provide the correct definition thus, followed by an analogy. Starting with an analogy of how the different RNA types can make the lesson hard to follow as well as, causing confusion in the actual definition of the term. This particular video was hard to gather information from.

Explains the different types of drugs and mechanism of action staight to the point, the lecturer is a very good physician. But the guidlines differ from country to country, besides some information is contradictory and missing. Like he did not mention Labetalol as alpha and beta antagonist, he explains that the first drug of choice is ARBs in isolated systemic hypertension while in some previous quiz the answer was diuretics.

Amazing and I learned more from his videos then in class.
good explanation
von Vanessa O. am 29. Januar 2019 für Golgi Apparatus
I chosed to give it 4 stars, because I loved the way the lecture was eplained. I am not a native english speaker and therefor prefered the rather slow speed of speach.
unfortunatelly there have not been any Control questions and that is why I only rated this lecture with 4 out of 5 stars.
Simple and straightforward information

von Hatem Q. am 19. Januar 2019 für Endocrine Pharmacology
very good course, easy to follow and understand, to the point.
However, technically, I would like to suggest that all relevant topics be available, even if explain in other topics such as catecholamines, and androgens...... even if they are just to be copied, just for the purpose of making the course complete and no need to go, somehow, outside a particular course.
makes no sense

von Hatem Q. am 12. Januar 2019 für Inflammation Pharmacology
As expected. concise, easy to follow, to the point.
However, more about biologics was needed: uses, dosages, routes of admin. side effects
Again, Corticosteroids (oral, topical: eg. betamethasone, predmisolone, triamcinolone.......) are missing
Good job

The lecture is discouraging:
von Sunil K. am 02. Januar 2019 für Cell Cycle Controls
The lecturer did not appear confident looking into notes too often. Too many hand gestures are a distraction especially when not pointing to the stuff on the slides.
The material was not presented in an easy or simple way. Made it more complicated that it actually is. I feel difficulty in continuing to the next lectures without understanding this.

using other source than lecturio
von Ari C. am 01. Dezember 2018 für The Macromolecules of Life
the course was good, the first video was condensed with a ton of information and I think you should maybe think about splitting this kind of videos in the future, I was finding myself watching other youtube videos to study this subject. it is always good to use plenty of different source of information to develop a wide perspective on a subject. but in this case, I want to rely on lecturio only.

von Robert B. am 30. Oktober 2018 für Questions and Case Studies: Steroids, Cyclosporine and Crohn's Disease
I used to think Dr. Raj was far and away the greatest medical educator alive. I didn't even watch anyone else. I used Lecturio just for Dr. Raj's videos. Dr. Raj is funnier, and perhaps more memorable. However, Dr. Shulke presents the same level of clear, concise explanations, the kind that only come from the mind of a master who has internalized the material to the point of making it look easy. I love the part where Dr. Shulke boldly calls prednisone a clumsy tool for incompetent practioners. That is with me forever. I feel bad for my classmates struggling through our professors' awkward lectures. .

informative and interesting to read
von Mazen A. am 03. Oktober 2018 für Cells of the Epidermis
this article handles the explanation for skin layers; which I find as the hardest of the topics, in a well organised and logically acceptable building. It is really interesting to read. It summarizes the topic but without the loss of any crucial information. Also, the use of well-labelled pictures and microscopic slides is a plus and catalyse the understanding. I would recommend this to my premedical colleagues.

confusing
von Nathan A. am 10. Juli 2018 für Periodic Table for Biology – Chemistry
This lecture and the one before were very confusing. You need to explain that the third energy level can technically hold UP TO 18 electrons (s,p,d sublevels) but it also fills up with the first 8 it receives. valence shells (energy shells) and energy LEVELS need to be better distinguished and not used interchangeably. Luckily, I knew the material and was able to straighten things out for myself using Google. How can I know that Lecturio will not have faulty lectures in the biochem module (material I'm not familiar with)? I am still within 10 days and am considering cancelling my lecturio subscription over this lost credibility in my mind.

Not really focused on USMLE STEP 1
von WAYNE A. am 25. April 2018 für Lysosomes
First of all I would like to say that I really appreciate all of the effort by the professors and Lecturio to do great lectures, however, I would like to say, as well, that you need to focus on the exam format (In this case - USMLE Step 1). For example, in this lecture it was asked: "Which of the following is NOT a lysosome related disorder?" that is pretty good, because it has a clinical context with the subject, however this " lysosome related disorder" have never been taught by Professor Cornwall.

The Lecturer is clear and concise, better than my advanced pharmacology professor.
von shannon w. am 19. April 2018 für Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics
I liked his class. The Lecurer breaks the material down in a way that is easy to undersand. This course is a god send. I have to take this course being an FNP student in graduate school. The quizes are remarkedly like our exams in Advanced Pharmacology. I like how the quizes pop up in the middle of the lecture, it helps you process the material. I plan on taking all the advanced pharmacology course offered and tthe price cant be beat. You are learning valuable material like you would in a college course only it is a lot less money. The knowledge I am learing from this course is invaluable to me and is helping my confidence before I take my advanced pharmacology course for colleg credit. I will follow up with a review when I actually pass the class. I already know it is helping me. Thank you for making this availble to the public. I wish I could get college credit for this. I would say I love the course, But I am not a big fan of pharmacolgy in general as it is a very challenging course for me.

von Steven F. am 12. April 2018 für Energy, Enzymes and Metabolism
Loved the lectures, especially the lecture on the electron transport chain. Dr. Cornwall had a really useful analogy of the ETC and kids (electrons and hydrogens) going to the prom (ETC) that really made the concept stick. Very good job!

Not a full review of all the Endocrine Pharmacology

The topics discussed were on diabetes and adrenal pharmacology. Nothing on thyroid, calcium pharmacology.
This is therefore not a full review. What was discussed however was excellent and exactly what you need to know!
More detail at this level
von Mia Y. am 09. April 2018 für Gene Expression
I feel that the delivery is good but the content is not detailed enough, e.g. when talking about splicing, I think it would have helped to talk about what ‘snurps’ are involved and how this relates to initiation.

- Mark histological structures in image if they are described
Thank you
Excellent lecture + few suggestions for improvement
von The Anh B. am 22. März 2018 für Muscle Tissue
Prof. Meyer is an excellent teacher. His lecturing method is very clear and pleasant.
Maybe some constructive improvement tips:
- In most lectures Prof. Meyer would describe an histological structure while showing an image. But those particular feature he was describing weren't always marked so in those cases I wasn't sure which structure he was talking about (but in some few videos there were nice animation, so maybe you guys are already working on this point)
- Secondly, i was wondering if some of those subjects would be relevenat for the USMLE (Step 1). If it is, I think, it would be a pretty cool feature to integrate some USMLE-like questions after each video (also for other topisc than histology)

How did people study pharma before this lecture series??
von joshua W. am 27. Februar 2018 für Pharmacology
This lecture series is phenomenal. He presents the material in a clear, concise, and quick manner. In my opinion, I like watching his course as an introduction, read a pharma book such as Brenner, do a qbank such as Lippincott´s Q&A, and then watch the series one more time through in order to solidify each drug topic. I would highly recommend for any medical student, or for anyone wanting to get a jump start on pharma. It has made learning and understanding pharma a lot easier (especially when your school´s pharma lecturer is not the greatest ;) ).

Dr Georgina is amazing. Thank you for making all these difficult concepts easier for us.
Thank you dr. Shuckle for putting the information in a way that we as students can understand it better.
von Sabrina Patricia P. am 21. August 2017 für Inflammation Pharmacology
Since I've been using lecturio for pharmacology everything started to make sense. I was very worried I would never be able to understand and know all the aspects of differt drugs, because no one explained them to me as good as professor Shuckle. I like it very much because after a clear clasification of drugs and explaining each one, doctor Shuckle introduses personal experience( pericarditis treated with aspirin) which made me remember some things better. I like very much that at every course there are questions! You really saved my career as a doctor with this site and these courses. High quality content! Thank you very much for the support and also I appreciate lecturio asks us to give feedback and takes time to read it. Thank you dr. Shuckle for putting the information in a way that we as students can understand it better. I'm very happy!

von Thanks s. am 12. Juni 2017 für Cell Cycle and Cell Division
She spends half an hour explaining the steps of meiosis and doesn't even get into details... I'm not sure how she can manage to explain such simple topics in such a long time (it's half a movie time, for God's sake!).
She should base her lectures on Molecular Biology of the Cell, by Bruce Alberts et al., AT A MINIMUM.
Lecturio has many excelling lecturers; unfortunately, Dr. Cornwall is not one of them.

I like the Lecture it explain many things but there are very important thinks haven't been explained like how to knockout some genes by using shRNA or siRNA. I know that you explain CRSPR which is the greatest method ever . But I think is necessary to talk about shRNA, siRNA and what the advantage and disadvantag because everyday in school we here about them and I think they need to coverd in this lecture.

I didn't like because (comparing to microbiology) he speaks faster and the resources are poor. To much information without a satisfactory resource. I did graduated in 2009, so it was a long time ago to remember histology. I need to check every detail so it was hard to follow.
Replace her
von mina s. am 25. April 2017 für Gene Expression

The lecturer is really good in explaining the concepts and has really great clarity. It feels so good to listen to him and understand the underlying pharmacological principles
some remarks
von Ala B. am 02. April 2017 für Pharmacology
The slides are not bad, pretty well detailed, deliver what's important and contain up to date information, However the lecturer makes minor mistakes in some of the videos, e.g, (P.jiroveci in the antimalarials --> P.jiroveci=Pneumocystis and not Plasmodium). I know this sounds trivial, but I believe that Medicine is a field where minor mistakes are least tolerable, some topics like antithyroids I couldn't find in the endocrinology pharmacology.
I'm still not regretting subscribing, but I hope that you take this criticism in a positive way to ensure a high quality, which is very important for medical students nowadays, due to the endless number of different resources and the limited time to go through all of them.
The most clear and concise Histology lecture that I've ever seen.

von Jacob S. am 05. März 2017 für Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone – Drugs in Hypertension
Dr. Shunkle provides a great explanation of the RAAS. The lecture follows nicely along with my book and studies.
Clear and prepared teacher, but too much hesitating to go deeper into the biochemistry of the the farmacodinamics
von Emanuele D. am 02. März 2017 für Pharmacology
I found almost all the lectures in this class very useful to understand some chapters of my book, and i realized that watching each video before studying from my book and after it helped me a lot to memorize the the most important points. With that being said, this class is not enough if your book or your notes have much more details on the topics, especially regarding the pharmacodynamic.
Dr. Shukle is one of my favorite Lecturio teacher, and i really like the way he talks since it's very easy for me to understand even though i'm not from english speaking country.

I am constantly looking for good videos on youtube that coincide with my med school curriculum. Now that I have Lecturio, I can access videos all in one place. I haven't found a comprehensive resource quite like this one. The lectures seem to follow my curriculum quite well and hit a lot of the same topics. This is great because it only reinforces what I need for success on exams and boards. I am still figuring out how to best use this resource. For now, I am watching the lectures that follow my class work at school! Thank you!
