Clinical Skills (PA)

Von Glenna Lashley, FNP, MSN

Clinical skills are the hands-on diagnostic and procedural abilities providers use to evaluate and treat patients at the point of care. In primary care, urgent care, and emergency settings, these include common office-based procedures such as local anesthesia, wound repair, foreign body removal, and basic image interpretation. This course introduces a range of these frequently performed procedures, along with the fundamentals of reading common X-ray images.

For PA students, procedural competence is essential for success in clinical rotations and in future practice, where they are often the first providers to treat these common complaints. Each module walks through assessment, supplies, technique, and procedure demonstrations, with an emphasis on patient safety, aftercare, and accurate documentation.
