von Johnson O. am 17. Juli 2022 für Carbohydrate Metabolism
I have really learned. Before, I was wondering why study, or cram all those pathways and enzymes. How Professor Kevin Ahern explains and bring out concepts, Oh my God so great. He was born a teacher and just polished by learning! He never leaves behind any one, even the slow learners can pick, because once one understands the basic, the necessary complex facts can be understood quite faster!
I am now thinking of mastering in Biochemistry, besides my goal of Internal medicine. To be the best Physician, Biochemistry I have understood is one of the vital tools!

Great course! I will recommend it to all of my peers. I love that the speaker speaks clearly and slowly, although the pace becomes a normal conversational pace at 1.25x speed. This allows me to go through the content that is easy for me to understand quickly (at 1.25x to 1.5x speed) while I go through more difficult content at a slower pace (1.0x speed) without having the speak sound like he was drunk (0.75x to 0.5x speed).

von Gulbanu S. am 20. Oktober 2021 für Hormones and Signal Transduction
Yes, hormones and their transduction signals are important like a cardiac conduction system starting form the Sino-atrial node (SA) finishing in the Purkinjie fibres . I mean Hormones and signal transduction are really well explained by a doctor doctor Kevin Ahern . He has been presenting the most complicated part of the medicine course so well.
In terms of pregnant patient for example who does need an extra attention and management as they go though various hormonal changes while caring out pregnancy and delivery tasks.

von Gulbanu S. am 20. Oktober 2021 für Neurophysiology
Hi Lecturio Team,
Yes, I like it a lot neurophysiology by doctor Thad Wilson. Great presentation and explanation.
In my view, the neurophysiology is one of the vital key of the medicine by knowing it and combining knowledge and skills with anatomy, pathophysiology and surgery you could figure out pathology in terms of when you facing patients with traumatic injury .
In contrast when you seeing infected patient with contagious viruses, bacteria and fungi and so on, of course you need to immediately think about combining knowledge and skills of microbiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology and biochemistry. Yes, all courses are given so well presented.
Yes . I certainly enjoyed it Lecturio as it has all components of courses which are important for every doctor who wants to excel their skills. Many thanks indeed for the course organizers, Showing on cadaver will be even better to get precise knowledge and skills.

The video lectures are are very nicely presented by these professors. What i usually do is to to hear or watch all the time to grow myself. honestly there is always an addition of knowledge. This is the thing that satisfy me. the bad thing is that they are divided in short clips and to continue we have to to go to next topic. Clear presentation AND good selection of figures to show both a. and v. circulation. It is an added plus that all figures have the names in latin and not English. In other of the anatomy videos (i.e. upper limb, brain) the names in English, whereas keeping it in latin is more international than English and makes us all think that we are treating a scientific topic with a long history. Keeping it in latin makes i more clear and less ambiguous than English. Keep names of anatomical structures in latin in you Lecturio lectures.

First of all, I like the depth of this lecture and Professor Ahern is clearly very knowledgeable and concise on the the topic being discussed. And I also like due to the fact that this video is clearly a high-yield resource which is very helpful for my upcoming medical exam. However, I believe that this could have been better had the previous cycles preceding the formation of OMP explained as well in order for us the students to be able to get the essence of the information better. That's all I have got to say

My reation to the course.
von Ivor S. am 31. Mai 2020 für Epidemiology and Biostatistics: Introduction
In my student days in the 1950’s Statistics was a chore. It is only when I had some data of my own was it interesting. But it was the event of electronic calculators and later computers that got me interested again in Maths. The greater part of my professional career in Nuclear Medicine again stimulated an interest in both maths and the physical sciences.
Latter, I became interested in heath effects of the radiation of populations. Especially, of interest to me was the debate, still on-going of the, ‘No Linear Threshold.’ I understand very useful from the point of view of setting regulatory standards. Useless from the point of view of predicting deaths from low level radiation. Of course, this was formulated prior to contemporary ideas of cell biology.
To return to your lecture series, it is of great interest to me as to the definitions used in epidemiology. Thank you for a stimulating series

Bad explanation, busy slides
von Ioannis A. am 27. April 2020 für Lymphatic Tissues and Organs
He presents a list of the lymphocytes without the natural killer cells! Afterwards, he refers to them as if we know what these cells are. He also refers to lymphocytes as "key players", writing below a list of cells that we do not know in which category they belong. Busy slides, difficult language, not able to get his message across.

von olanipekun o. am 20. April 2020 für Penicillins – Cell Wall Synthesis Inhibitors (Antibiotics)
Thanks for the lecture, but I have a question regarding gram + bacterias, isn't Neisseria Gonorrhea the flora that causes gonorrhea ? to my knowledge it's a diplococcus and it's gram-negative, does it means that penicillins are also like similar in action just like cephalosporins especially the third generational ones?

Inadequate
von Chad-Solomon D. am 12. März 2020 für Acid-Base Box
This is completely inadequate for the questions posed. The first question gives "you observed red gnomes outside the box on the left for both pH and HCO3" and asks for the condition. Verbatim from the lecture ‘’Respiratory alkalosis’’. Why? Cos there are two gnomes on one side." Yet the answer is metabolic acidosis.

Absolutely high yield in hospital medicine. Often in hospital emergency department would find you can make a DKA dx with history and physical with the lab tests confirming the suspicion. This is an extremely valuable review and high-yield information for anybody working in hospital. Know how to treat and manage DKA upon admission, firstly the fluids and insulin. The rest you can learn or review within a few minutes of recognition. But have to recognize immediately to treat your patient.

I had an incredibly difficult time teasing out the most important information and organizing the immune response in a logical fashion. All the terms seemed jumbled in my head. This block is infectious disease, and requires building on the foundation of immunology--so I need to rebuild my foudation :p After watched just 3-4 of the Lecturio videos, I immensely regret not using it earlier. Thank you Dr. Delves, for being clear and logical it what is a very difficult and complex subject!

Video lectures and Delivery
von Nadia D. am 18. Oktober 2018 für Placenta: Blood Flow, Barriers & Exchange
Although the lecture content is good. This speaker frequently uses inappropriate sentence structure and phrasing. The result is certain sentences, when spoken, become confusing even though their content is simple.
For example...Lets talk about how the placenta and its roles in helping the fetus develop.
The sentence makes sense when you read it in the script without having listened to it. However, in the mini-lecture, it was read without pauses or breaks that clarified the emphasis of the sentence. it should have been read as:
For example...Lets talk about how the placenta, and its roles in helping the fetus, develop.
I know the speaker is likely reading a script, but it happens frequently where his enunciation or sentence delivery does not match the context of sentence. This adds a certain layer of listener confusion which delays the rate at which an individual is progressing through each mini-lecture (4-min lecture becomes 7-minutes). This happens frequently with this speaker and is not a huge deal, until you are forced to listen to all of the physiology lectures, and then become agitated.

The Brain of Brain–Computer Interfaces
von Kevin C. am 07. Juni 2018 für Neurophysiology
I've been interested in cyborg technology since first learning about it in the mid-1970's when I was a little kid. In 1988 when I began at the University of Washington I wanted to study remote-controlled people, but they didn't offer any courses in that field, although 25 years later the school published their EEG brain-to-brain interface that lets one person control the motions of another. In February 1997 while successfully debating cloning legislation with the Department of Defense, I was ordered to stand down when trying to discuss brain implants, but eventually in 2005 my paper was credited as the basis for the Wikipedia article on the subject, and on 2 April 2013, the 17th anniversary of my first sworn statement to the Seattle FBI detailing organized crimes against children at a media giant, President Obama announced funding for the BRAIN Initiative. Even Jesus said go help out at the vineyard if you want to build heaven, and folks grumbled because they just assumed it already existed as if by magic.
Errors in Lecture Course
von Joseph D. am 03. Juni 2018 für Hormones and Signal Transduction
Hello Dr. Ahern. Your lectures were phenomenal, but for several of the lectures the slides did not correspond with your lecture (they were of totally different topics) or they changed midway into into unrelated biochemistry topics. It may be best to review them and adjust the errors. However, your presentation was so so good that I was easily able to follow your lectures with the downloaded lecture slides.

Poor Presentation
von Flora I. am 01. Mai 2018 für Veins – Thoracic Vessels
I chose this rating because the structures the Lecturer is describing are unclear and difficult to follow. If the instructure had better visualization--such as highlighting the veins as he spoke--that would help immensley. An additional thing that would have helped is to have a visual summary of which veins feed into which at the end of the segment so the students could organize the vein tributaries better in their minds.
I like the over all information, it just needs to be presented better.

I cannot believe I am just now finding this resource during my dedicated Step 1 period. However, I am so glad that I found it now, right at the beginning of Step prep, rather than later. I plan to use this as one of my main resources for the remainder of time up until my exam. I realized while reading First Aid that, although I had known the subjects very well at one point, that my foundation was not as solid as it once was. This is perfect for reviewing and providing the big picture for everything. It's also an amazing resource for providing the "why" and "how" behind all the small factoids written in First Aid which is just what I need. It's so much easier to retain the information when you actually understand what is going on rather than memorizing a 650+ page book of bullet point lists/facts. This is great. I was a huge fan of Boards and Beyond, but I have since ditched that resource and am fully focusing on this one since this seems a lot more comprehensive and better taught (though Dr. Ryan has also done an amazing job too). Thank you guys so much for coming out with such a well thought out and developed and thorough resource. This is going to make board prep so much smoother. If I end up scoring highly on Step 1, I will make sure to write a review on Reddit, SDN, etc raving about Lecturio.

von Edward K. am 27. August 2017 für Inguinal Canal – Abdominal Walls and Inguinal Canal
good lecture- lost a star because illustrations are in latin. I do appreciate latin is completely acceptable to use in the context of anatomy, but in practice nobody uses latin terms and it feels outdated and counter-productive to learn the latin nomenclature.
It would be much easier to follow if everything was in english ; a small point but it did slow me down when following this lecture.

Understood the concepts after not understanding them from reading my curriculum books..
Organized, simple lectures to help understand somewhat difficult concepts.
von Bessie S. am 15. Dezember 2016 für Respiratory Acidosis & Alkalosis
Dr. Wilson does an excellent job in breaking down concepts of acid-base balance in the body and making it plain. He also provides some additional tricks/tools that you may not get in your regular lectures, but will definitely help on an exam. These lectures are top notch, just excellent!
Awsome!

Informative lecture, was going a little bit too fast but repeating the video helped.
Epidemiology and Biostatistics 101. Awesome
von Rolando C. am 04. Dezember 2016 für Epidemiology and Biostatistics: Introduction
It made epidemiology very easy to understand, remember and apply it to my practice. It helped me a lot in appraising available evidence and use it in making appropriate and prudent clinical decisions in taking care of my patients .
The explanation was very clear
von Emily A. am 04. Dezember 2016 für Case Studies – Diabetes Medications
The explanation was very clear. This lecture helped me to better understand this area of pharm! Thank you!
the lecture was way to short
von Neelofar B. am 30. November 2016 für Nerves and Neurotransmission
the lecture was way to short. The information was very general. Please make the lectures more detailed and more interactive..maybe actual drawings being drawn as the lecturer is explaining. Also to specify on the detailed part which i mentioned, it would be much better if he explained each neurotransmitter.
amazing course

Need more Integration.
von olawale o. am 24. September 2016 für Endocrine Physiology
Like the way Dr. Wilson teaches, but I wish he will integrate across disciplines like biochemistry, genetics, pathology, and more importantly, pharmacology. I will pay more if that is what it takes.
point specific

Linked Cell Types Beautifully
von Stewart B. am 22. August 2016 für Humoral Immunity and Cell-mediated Immunity
I thought this was an excellent lecture in order to see the relationship between immune cells, their signals, and the corresponding responses from other immune cell types. It brings cytokines that could have been described in the earlier lectures but also fit here with the discussion of signaling.
Kudos!
von Laura O. am 05. August 2016 für Acid-Base Balance
Accurate, slow enough to understand, and he gives concrete examples that clarify each concept.
Keep it coming.
Ummm
von Monica M. am 23. Juli 2016 für Reproductive Physiology
Not exactly what I've expected but not bad at all!
