Anatomy of the Urinary System and Suprarenal Glands

by James Pickering, PhD

The urinary system is a collection of organs and structures responsible for the production, storage, and elimination of urine from the body. It plays a critical role in maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance, regulating blood pressure, and filtering waste products from the bloodstream.

The suprarenal glands are a pair of small endocrine glands located on top of each kidney. Despite their small size, these glands play a crucial role in regulating various physiological processes within the body. Students will explore the appearance, structures, blood supply, and position in the abdomen of these organs.
