A force is any influence that tends to change the motion of an object. Forces are everywhere. Just by existing on this planet, you are being subjected to a litany of forces simultaneously (e.g., gravity, friction). Understanding how to calculate and describe the various forces acting on a single object is important not only for understanding Newton’s laws of motion but also for excelling in classroom physics.
