The most important part of this lecture in my opinion is the analogies that Dr. Georgina offers. It really help us to understand for example when she associated the Golgi Complex with a Fedex facility, or when she connects the fact that liver cells have more SER since one of its important functions is detoxification.

I like how she breaks down the information in small and easy to understand pieces. There's no need to overcomplicate things like other science teachers love to do.

The video by Lecturio provides an excellent overview of the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis, two of the most important metabolic processes in the cell. These processes work together to produce ATP, the cell's energy currency. One of the most interesting things about the electron transport chain is that it is a highly efficient way to convert energy from food into ATP. Although I am at present an unknowledgeable M0, I appreciate how informative this introductory lecture is on mucous versus serous glands, and that an associated slide with images is presented. Histology is a notably difficult course in medical school, especially for people without prior exposure. While this was certainly a helpful lecture with breaking down differences between mature versus immature bone, not revealing the labeled diagram could prove detrimental to student learning. I noticed when quizzing myself that stronger learning might be taking place, but ultimately, I am not sure if everyone myself included could fully and adequately label every structure on this histological slide. Could you provide these diagrams with labels if they are not already somewhere? My histology atlas displays images differently.

I have really learned. Before, I was wondering why study, or cram all those pathways and enzymes. How Professor Kevin Ahern explains and bring out concepts, Oh my God so great. He was born a teacher and just polished by learning! He never leaves behind any one, even the slow learners can pick, because once one understands the basic, the necessary complex facts can be understood quite faster! I am now thinking of mastering in Biochemistry, besides my goal of Internal medicine. To be the best Physician, Biochemistry I have understood is one of the vital tools! In my Nursing practice, we lost a 10 yr old male with Liver Cirrhosis from a liver disease, which was diagnosed in early age. Now, I am thinking of a Deficiency of the Transaldolase enzyme!! Great course! I will recommend it to all of my peers. I love that the speaker speaks clearly and slowly, although the pace becomes a normal conversational pace at 1.25x speed. This allows me to go through the content that is easy for me to understand quickly (at 1.25x to 1.5x speed) while I go through more difficult content at a slower pace (1.0x speed) without having the speak sound like he was drunk (0.75x to 0.5x speed).

Yes, hormones and their transduction signals are important like a cardiac conduction system starting form the Sino-atrial node (SA) finishing in the Purkinjie fibres . I mean Hormones and signal transduction are really well explained by a doctor doctor Kevin Ahern . He has been presenting the most complicated part of the medicine course so well. In terms of pregnant patient for example who does need an extra attention and management as they go though various hormonal changes while caring out pregnancy and delivery tasks. I cant thank enough for his contribution . I much appreciated.

in depth knowledge on DNA splicing, ecor 1 and so the base pairs want to stick together and then ligase comes along to stick together the backbones, the phosphate-sugar backbones. Here you can see how the two pieces come together and now we have a recombinant DNA molecule. Again, we are generally looking at a circular chromosome and a foreign piece of DNA being inserted into that circular chromosome and so we'll see two ends of sticky ends and insertion of that sequence.

This lecture gave me a brief knowledge on how rDNA is made.

I have just begun the Respiratory Physiology video lectures and the following is the evidence. These video's are right up there with the famous John B. West video's on Respiratory Physiology. John B. can't come close to these Lecturio lectures that honestly satisfy the student. Dr. Wilson, to some, literally takes their breath away with these video lectures on respiratory physiology.

I am not sure what her profession is, but DNA doesn't seem to be a topic, which she should lecture on... In the middle of the video she just blanked, and kind of skipped on some points... (That's not the first time or first lecture that she does that...) P.S. The powerpoint is also not accurate... The coding strand around 0:52 is indicated as template strand... This lecture is quite disappointing, and frankly, a very low quality compare to other Lecturio's lectures.

Very good presention and as usual for Thad with very good and clear illustrations. As mentioned previously, more emphasis on the importance of surfactant would be useful and on how it is essential to keep the airways functional. The section on hypobaric and hyperbaric pressure effects such as during mountaineering and diving is informative and should be of interest to anyone.

More organization is needed to explain this lecture because is an important part of the DNA synthesis.

Hello, I love supporting women in science and education, etc. I also will share my honest opinion to improve the educational site. This lecturer, while alright, is not the best you could get for Lecturio students. Her constant glancing over her notes is distracting and she is not very well articulated. Even though she is Ph.D., she has not digested her lecturing materials to the master's level. It is very unfortunate that she lectures on one of the most important subjects within your platform. Why you chose her? For the sake of diversity and involvement? I am sure there are much better and knowledgeable lady lecturers. Did not you see the disengagement and flaw after a couple of her lectures? Was she so cheap?

I thought this lecture was relatively easy to follow. The video brings forward the relevant pathways to highlight them and Dr Wilson explains their function and why they are causing the response they do. I can understand that if you watch this one out of series it might be a little hard to follow but like most of the lecturio videos, you should watch the entire series once through and then review specific videos at your leisure.

I am no longer scared of metabolic pathways. thank you so much.

Biochemistry by Georgina Cornwall is not good at all, she reads all the time and she doesn't even know what to talk about.

She didn't talk about the template strand. the prof fumbled with the coding strand and im actually confused if the coding strand, or the tremplate strand matches the sequence of the mRNA. She definitely seems disorganized. It didn't flow at all.

I liked these explanations, but if you are a college student this may not be for you

Dr. Ahern pointed out very interesting aspects like heat generation/high energy of PEP and the 2,3-BPG production. Maybe I wasn't paying attention the first time I learned about glycolysis, but this extra integrative information it makes this step easier to remember. Actually, in generally, these human focused biochemistry lectures, are easier to digest, since when I learned it originally, it was mixed with plant and microbial biochem.

i liked the details and visualization. should have been there more mobility in the slides tho.

These lecture series are so excellent that as a student we have the capacity to control the phase of the video, and secondly doctor Thad Wilson explain this concepts so clearly that I find it very useful along side my course in MBBS. I like the Thad Wilson teaches. He is a great teacher. The content of the slides a also excellent because students can easily follow the short best outline. In general, I find the lectures provided in Lecture to be of exceptional quality. This one is not only below that standard, but, for me, it fails entirely as an instructive tool especially in regard to the discussion around the first figure. Basic principles to convey information are missing, and when combined together make for a frustrating experience where little to no information is really conveyed. 1. The labels are indicated only as the lecturer speaks. The slide never shows the labels at one time only. (I understand the lecturer wishes to flag the information he is talking about. This could just as easily been done with a figure that shows all of the labels but uses color or boldness to draw our attention to the item under discussion. Better yet, in lieu of highlighting the label, highlighting the actual anatomical item is even more effective). 2. The labels are not adjacent to each other so that the reader looses a visual relation. This is a circular structure with consistent layering, yet the labels jump from side to side for no reason. This is not only distracting but prevents us viewers from easily following the structure along with the discussion. 3. There is no rhyme or reason to the coloring. Connective tissue and muscle are both pink and yellow. This makes it impossible for the viewer to quickly appreciate the structures. Frankly, from this lecture, I have no clue what is where in terms of the layer of the esophagus and the location of each plexus. I ask each of you at Lecturio who are reading this review to see if you are able to grasp this information after reviewing this lecture. In addition to fixing this lecture, it is my hope to hear from Lecturio as to whether the company has in place an editorial team to ensure that basic principals to successfully convey information, as has been done in this lecture, are never missed. After all, we students are paying for a professional service to help educate us, not waste our time. Thank you for your consideration.

Dr. Meyer is a great teacher, a lot from my experience with his videos regarding the introduction to the mammalian cell however, this video definitely left a lot to be discerned and was not very informative. Required me to do a lot of googling to make sense of much of these... Hard to follow and disappointing.

Explanation is good, but if there is more info in the PowerPoint material, it would be very nice.

The lectures are very good, but the speaker is a little confusing sometimes despite trying to repeat himself and use sometimes a language that sounds too simplistic

So far this lecture series has been good but this particular lecture is so hard to follow. The explanations aren't clear, and the professor not pointing out anything is a problem. This has been pointed out in previous lectures as well, and the explanation given is that it's better for us if we try to find it ourselves. This is the first time we are coming across structures like this. It would be better if the professor at least points out an example to us for the first time and then allows us to identify it ourselves later. Otherwise, these lectures have been good except for this one.

I didnt understand it the first time I watched it, but after studying the textbook and watching it again, everything made so much sense. Having a better understanding in physics and ?pressure in the respiratory system also helps. That was truly a high yield lecture, but it's best if you watch it after doing some reading in your textbooks.

The lecture simplified glycogenesis to extreme simplicity. It truly helped save around 30 minutes from my lecture, by providing adequate information

I chose 5 stars because the lectures were detailed and there were enough slides to explain every point. This really helped me while studying the topic in my textbook as I understood the slides and why they were so; why some looked pale and others look deeply stained, it's simply amazing. I although didn't like that some of the lectures had the last few seconds cut out (for me). I would recommend this lecture to those who have been trying to figure out why histological slides are why they are and have thus found histology "boring".

I suppose it depends on your learning style. That is, most of the medical students I've spoken to, appreciate concise and coherent lectures - Unfortunately, in my personal opinion, this micro-lecture lacked the fundamental high concentration of information that most of us are looking for - to take notes, and practice the spaced repetition model. Instead, her speaking pace, and vocal expression are slightly too fast and the way in which she attempts to outline a basic idea isn't linear in nature which leads the viewer wanting to know more, while simultaneously trying to ignore the off-topic rants. Note: Clearly, she's qualified to teach - however, valid of a point that may be, doesn't mean she has the practical communication skills to do so. Therefore, this is not a question of intelligence, rather - communication and linguistic expression. There will certainly people who prefer this method, I however, can not recommend.

The content was sufficient; however, the content curator had done a bad job. The first lecture was placed at last and last lecture in the first.

I was totally confused and feeling overwhelmed with this topic, but once I started watching the videos everything became clear. Now due to to this course and the excellent explanations, I feel ready for my embryology test.

This lecture clearly points out the differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells in protein synthesis. It would be helpful for those who wish to briefly know how proteins are formed in each type of cell.

I like the format - the lectures are "short and sweet". The lecturer is reasonable easy to listen to. Perhaps it is just because this is a foundation course, but it does feel this material may not be in-depth enough for USMLE step 1. (Or perhaps because it's re-used for non-USMLE students?). The questions are just "okay". There are a few errors, and a couple questions could be worded better. It also seems that some of these questions are testing material that seems only marginally important, and may not be very "high-yield". I wish there was an option to flag review questions to not be included in the "spaced repetition". The "spaced repetition" idea should be for memorizing the most important details, and I don't really want to be memorizing questions that I think are of little importance, incorrect, or poorly worded. (It'd also be a good way your you at Lecturio to decide which questions should be revised - if many people flag it as "don't review again", the question probably needs revision.)

I got a 10-10 at my Bone tissue test. Of course, I used my books for more information, but at first, I saw al the videos, did some notes, and then I rush into my textbook and realized that I knew the most part of the information. Beside the fact that we have to memorized all the details of everything, it was just amazing the feeling of truely understanding the subject. I really recommend it. It almost always fails to explain 'why'. These lists are available in any textbook. I was looking for an explanation to understand it. Also, visually it is looking at a table for 5 minutes, pictures could have explained better.

Before Lecturio I struggled with comprehending the mechanism of proteases and enzyme kinetics. Dr. Ahern brilliantly & easily explained these concepts in less than 5 minutes. I am currently in a graduate program for Medical Sciences, we have cumulative exams every quarter & I was just memorizing the info but now I finally understand. I recommend Lecturio to pre-meds, MCAT, and Med students.

He talks 6 minutes straight without changing a slide! It would be helpful to have bullet points in order to understand step by step what he is going to cover. Very bad teacher.

He presents a list of the lymphocytes without the natural killer cells! Afterwards, he refers to them as if we know what these cells are. He also refers to lymphocytes as "key players", writing below a list of cells that we do not know in which category they belong. Busy slides, difficult language, not able to get his message across.

I like it because I feel like now I am able to study difficult concepts in a relatively short space of time. I'd recommend it to all MBBS students finding it difficult to understand respiratory physiology by reading from a text book.

Dr. Cornwall makes the topics easy to understand and retain. Her approach is not overwhelming but yet not so simple you are bored.

This is one of the few videos in this video series where the video cuts before the lecturer is done talking or before she's done with the material for the section. For example, in this one she only discusses E site and video cuts... what about the other 2 sites on the ribosome?

Great professor. Has almost everything needed for my course in Biochemistry.

Didn't explain clearly and concisely which each type of RNA was as well as providing its clear function. Additionally, it is best to provide the correct definition thus, followed by an analogy. Starting with an analogy of how the different RNA types can make the lesson hard to follow as well as, causing confusion in the actual definition of the term. This particular video was hard to gather information from.

The reason I chose a 4 star rating was because the lectures were amazing and wonderful but I do feel there is room for improvement. I feel in this section, the slides could have contained more information when possible to download and I personally feel that slides was the downfall in this section from preventing the full 5 star rating. I feel the slides could use an improvement and expand on more details. I also believe that the lecturer could have expanded on some concepts a bit more to provide more understanding by providing more examples and various other techniques. The length of the videos were amazing, the way in which the lecturer spoke was captivating and caught my attention and I most certainly enjoyed the lectures and I did learn alot that I never caught in class before. I do urge that the slides do get an improvement by adding certain figures and more concepts especially for us to download. I think it would help alot.

I have really enjoyed the course because Prof. Thad Wilson explained all the concepts in easy and understanding way. So I can integrate all these concepts and apply while I converge that knowledge with other concepts that I have to apply while I'm trying to understand and see how other body systems actually work. I thought that this was very thorough and went over lots of the material that my current professor is going over. Some of the questions were either a little simple but reiterated take home points, or were left-field as the material was not covered in the specific video I just watched. Overall I would recommend this course to anyone struggling in genetics + read the comments because she does a great job in answering and clarifying questions you may not know that you had.

Over time, Lecturio might be able to invest in more sophisticated graphics such as animations, to support the lecture's teaching objective and aid learning. The lecturer with powerpoint presentation can be a fairly benign and sometimes, unengaging method of teaching.

Made personally complicated and hard-to-take-in material very clear for me. It was very helpful with the definitions of the histological terms and summarized the skin topic very well. I am getting ready for my first histology exam and this video helped a lot!

The content of this course was fairly comprehensive and Professor Wilson does a good job of explaining most of the content. The quiz questions are also useful though sometimes poorly worded. I really liked the last few lectures on the more clinical practicalities of the content we had just learned. The course is arranged in a way that makes it somewhat difficult to follow sometimes. I had to go away and make sure i was read up fairly well on the kidney before i could understand enough to watch through all the lectures and i feel a better introduction to the kidney and how its anatomy and physiology are arranged and interconnect would have been useful. I think a section regarding the interaction of pharmacology and renal physiology would also have been a nice touch. All in all, worthwhile once you can begin to understand it

My last block contained a lot of immunology, and I did very poorly on the exam. I had an incredibly difficult time teasing out the most important information and organizing the immune response in a logical fashion. All the terms seemed jumbled in my head. This block is infectious disease, and requires building on the foundation of immunology--so I need to rebuild my foudation :p After watched just 3-4 of the Lecturio videos, I immensely regret not using it earlier. Thank you Dr. Delves, for being clear and logical it what is a very difficult and complex subject!

Although the lecture content is good. This speaker frequently uses inappropriate sentence structure and phrasing. The result is certain sentences, when spoken, become confusing even though their content is simple. For example...Lets talk about how the placenta and its roles in helping the fetus develop. The sentence makes sense when you read it in the script without having listened to it. However, in the mini-lecture, it was read without pauses or breaks that clarified the emphasis of the sentence. it should have been read as: For example...Lets talk about how the placenta, and its roles in helping the fetus, develop. I know the speaker is likely reading a script, but it happens frequently where his enunciation or sentence delivery does not match the context of sentence. This adds a certain layer of listener confusion which delays the rate at which an individual is progressing through each mini-lecture (4-min lecture becomes 7-minutes). This happens frequently with this speaker and is not a huge deal, until you are forced to listen to all of the physiology lectures, and then become agitated.

"... and we know that the DNA was taken up because the plant grows tumors OR NOT..." Taking the term "tentative scientific language" to another level!! LMFAO >D

Professor Ahern is a perfect teacher and he makes everything so easy to understand

this article handles the explanation for skin layers; which I find as the hardest of the topics, in a well organised and logically acceptable building. It is really interesting to read. It summarizes the topic but without the loss of any crucial information. Also, the use of well-labelled pictures and microscopic slides is a plus and catalyse the understanding. I would recommend this to my premedical colleagues.

Needs more details, and take it slower so that we the audience can get a more thorough understanding of the topic (the video really doesnt need to be that short)

For many years, I have read lots of textbooks and lots of lecture slides to learn immunology but it was always confusing and none of them knows how to begin immunology. The immune system is a kind of spider web which has no begin and no end. On the other hand, Dr Delves is a very smart academician who found a way how to chance a spider web into a linear and understandable structure. If you need to learn immunology, don't waste your time beginning with memorizing every immune cell, every receptor. We need a cloned one or twin of Prof Delves for Istanbul Technical University. I began to learn immunology with this lesson and just with 8 days of his video lessons I succeed to pass molecular immunology that's the lesson I hadn't passed for many years. I am grateful for you Dr Delves. The chaotic structure of immunology gets easy by your lessons. Not only your lessons made me be graduated from my undergraduate education but also you changed my mind about immunology. Good lecture, but not USMLE focused. This is more of a general biology lecture than a USMLE prep lecture. It seems to me that Lecturio is not making the difference between MCAT prep and USMLE prep. The lectures look more like MCAT prep lectures and not USMLE.

It may be best to review them and adjust the errors. However, your presentation was so so good that I was easily able to follow your lectures with the downloaded lecture slides.

Nothing on how p53 relates to RB or how p53 induces p21 to inhibit CDK thus acting as a tumor suppressor by not allowing cell cycle progression. This info is found in the the First Aid for the USMLE so it is probably important.

In terms of studying for something like USMLE, brief intro is fine! Such topics will not be tested on the exam but are necessary to build foundations for other future topics. If you are studying for other exams, this whole module may be a bit light on key information. Great as a refresher though!

This is a great lecturer who gives great detailed explanation. Unfortunately, he's limited by Lecturio, as it hasn't been able to incorporate videos as visual aid to the lectures yet. Embryo, particularly, is very complex an image to mind picture, especially to young learners, and when you feel there were a few things left to imagination, you know something is missing. I believe videos would be the cherry on top, and would make a great tool for what I think it is almost a perfect way of learning, as it is Lecturio and its lecturers.

First of all I would like to say that I really appreciate all of the effort by the professors and Lecturio to do great lectures, however, I would like to say, as well, that you need to focus on the exam format (In this case - USMLE Step 1). For example, in this lecture it was asked: "Which of the following is NOT a lysosome related disorder?" that is pretty good, because it has a clinical context with the subject, however this " lysosome related disorder" have never been taught by Professor Cornwall.

The chapter about cellular structure has given me clear explanation and enhance my knowledge about the different functions that the plasma membrane assure. The course just makes my understanding of cell dynamic very straightforward.

I feel that the delivery is good but the content is not detailed enough, e.g. when talking about splicing, I think it would have helped to talk about what ‘snurps’ are involved and how this relates to initiation.

considering that most students are paying monthly, it will be nice to have a small animation team that works with the lectures to have the highest quality of service, this platform needs to beat videos found on youtube or be equal to it. rather than still pictures. I found the first video not to be as an introduction to this topic of musculoskeletal phy. but so far I like the lecturer and his explanation. it helps supplement my book.

It seems superficial. Why do I care about flow rates? How do the hormones interact? This whole course was just segmented and surface level. Lecturio has the potential to replace a lot of medical schools if they start to connect information rather than segmenting it.

The lecturer frequently mispronounces words and stumbles as he speaks quite a bit. It was very distracting and made it hard to focus on what he was trying to say. The course needed more videos that takes about how different variables that impact Guyton curves. The questions asked after each lecture were not always covered during the lecture.

The course is good but some questions in the quizzes have the wrong correction. Some information in the physiology course is incompatible with the quizzes in pathology. As an example, the information given about the central receptores being sensible to H+ ion and not to CO2 itself (in physiology) is correct but in the pathology course it is considered incorrect in one of the quizzes where we are given the option between CO2, H+ and other ions and the “right” answer is CO2 which is wrong. I would recommended but the quizzes must be checked for erros.

I thought this was the worst taught course Lecturio has to offer. I was left confused most of the time. Fortunately Ive used lecturio for other courses and was very satisfied so I will still recommend this program.

This lecture left me confused at exactly the interplay between these two systems. Perhaps its the diagram. I was lost after Decreased Osmolality. I think that is where this lecture goes down hill.

And thats great and enhances long term memory.

What I loved the most about this lecture was how Dr. Cornwall actually took her time to explain the concepts discussed, and even used simple analogies to ensure that the information was easier to digest. This is something you find lacking in many professional lectures. Thanks again Dr. Cornwall!

Very good course, it explians well many things, but maybe it cpuld be a little more specific

She spends half an hour explaining the steps of meiosis and doesn't even get into details... I'm not sure how she can manage to explain such simple topics in such a long time (it's half a movie time, for God's sake!). She should base her lectures on Molecular Biology of the Cell, by Bruce Alberts et al., AT A MINIMUM. Lecturio has many excelling lecturers; unfortunately, Dr. Cornwall is not one of them.

The facilitators are very good because they motivate you to learn.

Did good job explaining some of the expected changes, but a poor job at others and simply stated direction of arrow without explanation. Overall, a good lecture but definitely room for more detail to be discussed. Also, very surprised effects of acute blood loss/trauma was not covered.

Lecturer is great and thorough, I like that he takes space so that you can note something down etc.

the plot charts are really confusing. takes a few replays to grasp a little.

I felt it lacked detail of specific transporters, and no references to any diseases or drug MOAs. Not very detailed for medical review/test prep.

I like the Lecture it explain many things but there are very important thinks haven't been explained like how to knockout some genes by using shRNA or siRNA. I know that you explain CRSPR which is the greatest method ever . But I think is necessary to talk about shRNA, siRNA and what the advantage and disadvantag because everyday in school we here about them and I think they need to coverd in this lecture. Thanks

Not enough material, lacked depth of material covered, questions too obvious, didn't cover all the hormones, and almost no linking to disease states/pathology.

Crisp, simple, clear, very useful, going into the core basics which allowed me to acquire a good insight into the mechanics of respiration. Thank you, Dr. Wilson, for being so supportive and a kind, good teacher paying attention to concepts spread out in such a phased manner. I am very grateful and humbled.

Don't replace her. Good OVERVIEW/REVIEW of the material at hand. Her pace is good. Her voice and expression and everything else is dynamic and engaging.

Please replace her. Explanation is very poor, she hesitate a lot, and seems unprepared and unsure. It is confusing and in comparison to a lot of lecturers you have here, the standard is incredibly low!

In my opinion, this course on muscles is good for a review of the most important points of the topic. I couldn't find the striated muscle lecture, there are only smooth muscle lectures here. I think a little bit of more detail could make this course perfect!

it is made simple, clear and easy to understand regardless the details need to be learned. this is the correct pedagogic way to teach and to learn. This is one of the things that shows that the teacher is a PhD. I wish those lectures were translated in french and that all medical students in my university benefit from it and also every medical student all over the world. Thanks for teaching us and for spreading the knowledge and make things easy for us.

I think if you're looking for a very detailed explanation of the system, I think this video is perfect and it goes at a very good pace too. I only needed an specific amount of information, so I ended up watching a video that was too specific for me to use.

The images and lecture format are very helpful, but I get very distracted every time this professor mis-speaks or stumbles on the lecture. I'm not sure why the lecture is posted with these errors since they can be confusing when you're learning the material for the first time.

I really enjoy Dr Wilson's lectures. There are concise and high yield. Excellent for viewing over and over again to refresh your memory or drive home concepts.

Well, I love the way Dr. G explains, however, the lecture on cell control wasn't the best and needed more explanations and needed to be more simplified . I put five stars because Dr. G has helped me a lot and made Biology a fun course.

This course really helped me understand the cellular structure, I learnt more from one of the 20 minute lectures, than I did in a 3 hour lecture at university, so these really help!

i liked how clear and straight forward the material is presented! Some topics are a bit brief and could have gone more in depth. I would highly recommend these lectures.

It is very good, I like the power point slides and picture etc.

Like the way Dr. Wilson teaches, but I wish he will integrate across disciplines like biochemistry, genetics, pathology, and more importantly, pharmacology. I will pay more if that is what it takes.
