    00:01 Well, in summary then, in this lecture we’ve covered the main classes of blood vessels: the arteries, the arterioles, the capillaries, the venules and the veins.

    00:11 We’ve talked about the layer structure of the blood vessels the arteries and the veins; the tunica intima, the small thin layer right next to the lumen, the channel of the blood vessel; the tunica media with its smooth muscles for contacting and relaxing; and the tunica adventitia which is fibrous tissue and fat cells that keep the blood vessels in place in the place where they’re located.

    00:38 And we’ve talked a bit about the physical principles: blood flow, velocity, the law of continuity in terms of the continuous circulation of the blood.

    00:49 And we talked a bit about the law of the capillary: how the forces of blood pressure work against osmotic pressure in order to prevent fluid from getting out into the tissues in more than a very small amount, which is drained by the lymphatics.
