Neoplastic Skin Diseases

by Carlo Raj, MD, Mohammad Hajighasemi-Ossareh, MD

Neoplasias can be benign or malignant. Benign neoplastic skin diseases include dermatofibromas, seborrheic keratoses, and benign nevi, while skin cancer is the most well-known malignant type. In fact, skin cancer is the most common malignancy in the world and exacts a high burden on the healthcare system. It can be broadly subdivided into two categories: melanoma and non-melanoma. A fairer skin type is a common risk factor for skin cancer, as melanin is protective against UV damage (another major risk factor). Avoiding UV radiation is important for primary prevention.

A nice but really tricky course unit
By Dengu D. on 16. April 2021 for Neoplastic Skin Diseases

One needs a really freshened mind to grasp this. I think I need more time on this. Perhaps more illustration and pictures demonstrating the various skin conditions discussed would be beneficial!
