This course is designed to provide nurses with an in-depth understanding of the three most common inborn errors of metabolism - phenylketonuria (PKU), galactosemia, maple syrup urine disease, and newborn screening.
Nurses will learn about the clinical manifestations, diagnostic criteria, and treatment options for each disorder, including dietary modifications, medication management, and supportive care. Nurses will also learn about the different screening methods used for each condition, as well as the implications of a positive or negative result.
