Cerebral Cortex

by Craig Canby, PhD

There are three main divisions of the brain: the cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the brain stem. The cerebrum can be further subdivided into two hemispheres, which are the cortex (or gray matter), and the white matter. It can be subdivided into the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes. Dysfunction of the cerebral cortex can arise from a number of causes, including but not limited to trauma, autoimmune diseases, tumors, and cerebrovascular accidents. Clinical findings for each cause depend on which lobe is affected. An understanding of the anatomical location and function of the cerebral cortex and its subcompartments will aid in localization of neurologic pathology in the future.

It has been but pure, clear and Concise..the way Dr Canby goes about to illustrate the slides especially for the fact that this aspect of the human anatomy is very complex to understand.. I have already recommended a lot of my friends to lecturio and they were all glad I did.
