    00:03 Acalculous cholecystitis is an inflammatory disease of the gallbladder without evidence of gallstones.

    00:10 The gallstones might be microscopic or the might be other possible causes of the acalculous cholecystitis.

    00:16 Critically ill patients are at an increased risk for acalculous cholecystitis.

    00:22 So whether they're in med-surg, telemetry or ICU if they're immobile and not eating normally be on the lookout.

    00:31 As with choledicholithiasis, the healthcare provider will determine the most appropriate treatment plan, whether it's conservative versus gallbladder removal after review of the assessment diagnostic tests and lab work.
