Teaching embryology without 3D illustrations is a crime … at least on such a big platform..
Many of the lectures seems hurried just for the sake of finishing within 10 min .

Great lecture both interesting and educational.
von Samuel P. am 24. Januar 2023 für Axillary Artery – Overview of Arterial Supply to Upper Limb
I really enjoy watching these videos. The way dr. Pickering chops the information into little pieces to make it easier to comprehend. I also think he puts more emphasis on the structures that are clinically relevant. It's great how he uses the illustrations to guide us through the structures, however the quality of the illustrations are very poor and too small.

Dr. McLachlan's worded the lectures very simple and understandable. You can even see his smile driven from enthusiasm behind some words. Passionate teachers make you excited and interested in subjects and I would like to thank them for that.

Perhaps it's because at the beginning he asked a question that he relates everything he teaches us to, giving every word a purpose. I started taking these classes beforehand since our course is only gonna start at Sept ao thought of studying something beforehand so I don't sit clueless once the classes begin. it's highly helpful and very well organized to follow even though you don't know anything about the topics .it everything from the basics in great detail and that's why I followed the lectures using the free trial.i do wish to access the rest of the lectures but since it requires payment I pulled back since I'm not currently that financially sound to make the payment since the college fee requires a lot of money.i wish I had free access to all the lectures .I've searched for good lectures online and I find lecturio the most promising online lecture class with precisely organized manner of classes and slides and even the diagram s and 3d models.hoping for more from you .at least make some more videos open to free access.a request from a beginner student.with lots of gratitude

This video, with the previous two videos are amazing. Taking embryology in med school was like greek or hebrew. Your teaching style is very helpful to dissect the processes into understandable segments. Our professor taught by day of development so there was lots of jumping around. I like the discussion of one layer from flat layer to cells to folding, to closure, etc. Very well done. Moose Henderson, PhD

Too brief
von Yasho S. am 15. Dezember 2018 für Knee Joint – Joints of Lower Limb
Good brief overview of the knee joint but I wish the lecturer would have gone more in-depth about the menisci, and the rotational and translational movements of the knee.
decent, but wanting of some really beneficial features.
von Sean G. am 15. Dezember 2018 für Lower Limb Anatomy [Archive]
similar to Upper Limb; layout & structure of course is quite good. concise & detailed. but the images & diagrams used truly do have very small labels, often making them useful. The lecturer uses the cursor here and then but thats not conducive to great learning either. you really need to be visualising these structures in a large & clear format.
Another point would be to include some mnemonics! it is no secret that these are one of the most useful tools for anatomy students in remembering complex structures, so why omit them?
a final criticism is that it just lacks some more clinical relevance.

I found this lecture to be clear, concise and suitable as a complement to lectures, textbook and cadaver work. Could you make the diagrams and their labels a bit larger, as they are difficult to see on smartphone, and there is no zoom facility.
Great lecturer. Great explanation
von Luana H. am 16. Mai 2018 für Gastrulation and the Trilaminar Embryo
This is a great lecturer who gives great detailed explanation. Unfortunately, he's limited by Lecturio, as it hasn't been able to incorporate videos as visual aid to the lectures yet. Embryo, particularly, is very complex an image to mind picture, especially to young learners, and when you feel there were a few things left to imagination, you know something is missing. I believe videos would be the cherry on top, and would make a great tool for what I think it is almost a perfect way of learning, as it is Lecturio and its lecturers.
Love Prof McLachlan style
von Jittikun C. am 13. Mai 2018 für Embryology: Early Stages with John McLachlan
I love the entire series by Prof. McLachlan. Although I can see that his style of resentation is not optimized for test taking, it is actually fun and thought provoking. I like his earlier introduction that talked about how removing a cell from the 8 cell stage or push two morulas together doesn't seem to imterfere with the development.
this is useful

Pretty good course. Covered all the important aspects without wasting too much time... I did end up watching his Embryo stuff on youtube bc the 3D aspect (with playdoh) was more helpful than just the pictures since Im more visual and sometimes this stuff will get confusing
Excellent
von Ahmed A. am 05. April 2018 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Definitely benefitted from the lectures.
Just a small note, even when putting the video on HD and full screen, the writing is too small and blurry to see the labelled parts of various anatomical structures. Hope the resolution can be increased or labels increased in size.
Small images and limited details
von Kerry T. am 01. April 2018 für Lower Limb Anatomy [Archive]
James used very small images that were of limited value and simply read what was on his slides which had very scant detail. No further elaboration or clinical relevance accompanied his explanations. I have gone to another resource for anatomy as I found my understanding was not stronger after having listened to his lectures.

Great if not for the break neck speed
von Joachim M. am 11. Januar 2018 für Conception, Implantation and Fetal Development
It's good but way too fast. I've already watched the old course by another lecturer and had lectures at school and read my embryology book on this about 6 weeks ago and am using this as exam prep to remember what I've forgotten while focusing on anatomy till now but even though this is not new territory, it is still too fast. Have to pause to read the slides and rewind a lot.
If this is watched by someone completely new to embryology, they'd have a hard time following this.
It's funny there's a button to increase speed. Might wanna add an option to slow it down too.
It could be more detailed but for me personally, this covers the level of detail in our exams.

It's a good professor, but there should be a "live" skeleton that he uses instead of just the PowerPoint.
Great

Best supplement for my med school anatomy lab. Easy to follow and thorough.
Your app takes the fear of exams away
von Dáithí Ó. am 05. November 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Fantastic! It’s like you’ve melted the fear away for me! I can watch over and over and over until I can nearly repeat it word for word. Sometimes when you study you can know something but in a multiple choice question (MCQ) situation later you can be stumped - while I found the sentences are in my head and it’s like being able to check the lecture! Repetition is the best way to learn! You couldn’t ask a class lecturer to keep going over stuff but with your amazing classes you can!! Thanks !!! Telling all my classmates about your article.
Helpful

von Mathilde B. am 24. Oktober 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
The presentation and speaking is very clear which is good, this has helped me and made medical school easier so far
these video lectures aren't boring. they are very interesting
von Fathimath S. am 16. Oktober 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
I learn better by listening and visualizing. So these lecturio lecture videos helps me a lot. Reading the text book after watching these is way better than trying to learn from the textbook alone.
Also these video lectures aren't boring. they are very interesting. If someone is struggling to learn anatomy on their own, then I'd really recommend this for them.
detailed explanations
von rahaina m. am 05. Oktober 2017 für Radius – Bones and Surface Anatomy of Upper Limb
wow! he gives detailed explanations with the pictures. hes doing an excellent job

Thank you very much for this course. It helped me understand the anatomy of the upper limb very well.
Woops! The suprascapular notch!
von Ryan L. am 18. September 2017 für Scapula – Bones and Surface Anatomy of Upper Limb
I certainly liked the video format, where we can adjust the focus from the speaker to the slide, and use the cursor to aid in pinpointing the relevant aspects of the scapula. The only thing I found was missing was a little aside about the suprascapular notch, which was shown in the slide, but not alluded to in the actual video lecture!
nice
von Neuer N. am 15. September 2017 für Introduction – Bones and Surface Anatomy of Upper Limb

von fara n. am 12. September 2017 für Lumbar Plexus: in Situ – Lumbosacral Plexus
terrible lecturing
anatomy is dry enough and you don't need a dry lecturere
anatomy lectures
von fara n. am 12. September 2017 für Fascia – Lower Limb: Superficial Structures and Cutaneous Innervation

Brachial Plexus made easy

Best lecture ever, I never thought I'd be able to understand brachial plexus
How Dr James Pickering set me up!
von ANIRUDDHA G. am 11. September 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Well Dr Pickering has presented the subject in such a lucid and organised manner that it becomes impossible not to fall in love with it and become dexterous in it at the same time. It was a wonderful experience with the upper limb.
Hope I have the same fun with the lower limb!
bones of the upper limb

Good quality but need to edit the font
von Catherine M. am 23. August 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
The video quality is quite good and I like the way the topic is presented. I would definitely recommend this to my friends in medical school. I guess the font could be larger and thicker though.
Wish I had this Instructor for Undergrad Anatomy

terrible
von Theresa N. am 01. Juni 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
i dont like it. in the ad, it was free,
now im told to suscribe
Doesn't miss anything but still lacking.
von David D. am 29. Mai 2017 für Lower Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Though I wouldn't want to hurt the instructors feelings, I think the concepts are all included, but his ability to convey the information in a coherent, and appealing matter are lacking. Anyone can just read you the concept and put slide after slide, but there is a finesse to the presentation of material. If every lecturer could have that finesse, this would be the most incredible resource for medical students around the world.
Interesting Lecture without becoming Boring
von deleted u. am 16. Mai 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Great lecturer! Covers the topic without becoming bogged down in the details.
Contrast of Lectures
von Ebenezer G. am 02. März 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
Lectures on Anatomy of the Heart was more concise, very comphrensible and corresponded with Last Anatomy textbook. Upper Limb Lectures wasn't as concise as Lectures on The Thorax( Heart). But I am very grateful to Lecturio for making my learning more simplified....
Lecturio is a great way to learn medicine.
von RANGANATHAN S. am 12. Februar 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
I liked the lectures very much . The in-depth classification of bones, muscles and associated systems surely was great. The clarity in voice and imaging helped me understand a great deal on appendicular skeleton . And i also scored great marks in the tests conducted on the topic anatomy of upper limbs at the university. Surely lecturio is the best choice for all medical U.G students. Thank you lecturio for your marvellous services.
Benefit of multimedia presentations
von John C. am 14. Januar 2017 für Upper Limb Anatomy [Archive]
