Transplantation Immunology

by Peter Delves, PhD

Organ transplantation is among the most complex interventions in medicine, requiring surgical expertise, adequate immunological management, and many other elements of care for its successful execution. Transplantation immunology refers to the state and intervention of the immune system throughout the process of organ transplantation.

In this course, the student will be introduced to the rules of transplantation, allograft rejection, alloantigen recognition, major histocompatibility complex (MHC) disparity, and immunosuppressive medication.

For optimal comprehension, the student must have a preliminary understanding of molecular and cellular biology, emphasizing gene expression, protein synthesis, signal molecules, and cellular receptors. A good grasp of cellular recognition and the MHC is also a must.

Lecturio needs to be better
By Veena D. on 05. December 2020 for Direct and Indirect Alloantigen Recognition

hard to understand this lecture. I also don't understand why lecturio makes it so hard to give a rating. Why can't you just accept a few words? Why do I have to type at least 10 words AND give a heading? If I have to write a short letter every time I give a rating, it just means you don't want people to give you a rating.

immunology can be quite difficult to follow at times but this lecturer made it quite precise and concise

Excellent
By Mai A. on 23. February 2018 for Introduction to the Problems and Rules of Transplantation

Splendid and simplified a rather complex topic which makes understanding its details in depth much easier

Helpful, would be better if keep adding more courses in this issue:)
