Tracheostomy care is another foundational nursing skill. Patients with tracheostomies initially depend on their nurses to keep the tracheostomy tube in place, keep it clean, and troubleshoot any problems.
In this course, you’ll mainly learn about maintaining the integrity and cleanliness of the tracheostomy. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to safely maneuver around the tracheostomy while cleaning it and changing the trach ties. It’s up to you to make sure that the tracheostomy tube doesn’t fall out while performing care.
