The pharmacology of blood coagulation encompasses all drug groups used for the management of coagulation disorders. These agents seek to either promote or interrupt the coagulation cascade or platelet aggregation to achieve the desired therapeutic effect.
In this course, the student will be introduced to antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, thrombolytics, and procoagulants.
For optimal comprehension, the student is required to have a previous understanding of molecular and cell biology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, and the physiology of coagulation and platelet aggregation.
