    Transcript

00:01 Immunodiagnostics are used to assess patients with suspected immunological conditions.

00:07 Clinical situations in which immune system components are assessed include infection, where we use the term seroconversion to describe a situation where antibodies are produced against specific pathogens.

00:23 So the presence of an antibody against a particular bacterium or virus will indicate that that person is seroconverted.

00:31 We measure immunological parameters in immunodeficiency that can be quantitative measurements or qualitative measurements.

00:41 In allergy, sensitization to allergens is measured.

00:46 In autoimmune disease, autoantibodies and T-cell autoreactivity can be measured.

00:53 And finally in transplantation, HLA matching takes place.

00:58 This was covered in the transplantation lecture.
