Cardiovascular System: Blood Vessels – Physiology (Nursing)

by Jasmine Clark, PhD

Nurses need to know about the different blood vessels, blood flow, and how the body changes blood pressure and perfusion in different situations. It’s also vital to understand how blood flow occurs in the brain and renal organs so that you can appropriately identify and assess problems in your patients.

In this course, you’ll learn more about the basic anatomy and physiology of the blood vessels and how blood flow and regulation of circulatory systems differ in various regions of the body.

You’ll discover more about assessing the cardiovascular system by learning about the different locations to palpate pulses, how to take a pulse, and how to measure blood pressure.
